\n Three people were shot across Gotham on Thursday, according to preliminary numbers released by cops Friday, including a woman collecting cans.<\/p>\n

A 46-year-old man was popped in the foot on Euclid Avenue near Etna Street in Cypress Hills just before 5 p.m., cops said. He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The shooting happ<\/a>ened during an attempted robbery involving two suspects, one of whom fired the shot, according to police sources.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, a 40-year-old man was shot, also in the foot, on Myrtle Avenue near Marcus Garvey Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. in Stuyvesant Heights, the sources said.<\/p>\n

He was also taken to Brookdale for treatment.<\/p>\n

Around 7 a.m., a woman was shot as she collected recyclables at 147th Street and Northern Boulevard in Flushing, cops said.<\/p>\n

The woman, who was struck in the back of the head, suffered only a minor wound.<\/p>\n

She said she spotted a man sitting in a sedan nearby, but no video is available indicating that he was the person who opened fire, according to police sources.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s date last year, four shooting incidents were reported with four victims, according to police.<\/p>\n

However, compared to that time last year, citywide shootings have nearly doubled.<\/p>\n

A total of 1,139 shootings with 1,399 victims were reported from the beginning of this year through Thursday.<\/p>\n

During that period last year, only 595 shootings with 701 victims were reported.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
