\n Derek Jeter still owns The Bronx.<\/p>\n

Jeter\u2019s Marlins clinched a playoff berth by beating the Yankees, 4-3 in 10 innings on Friday night.<\/p>\n

It came six years to the day after Jeter \u2014 who became Marlins CEO in 2017 \u2014 hit a game<\/a>-winning single in his final game at Yankee Stadium. This time, Jeter was in the middle of another memorable moment \u2014 but not for the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Aaron Judge said it was tough to watch the Marlins marking their milestone on the Yankees\u2019 turf.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not happ<\/a>y about it,\u2019\u2019 Judge said of watching it. \u201cI don\u2019t like it anytime a team celebrates on our field or if we\u2019re at somebody else\u2019s place, celebrate on their field. I\u2019ve seen that too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

And to add more ex-Yankee flavor to the situation, Don Mattingly was in the dugout as his Marlins, who he has managed since 2016, knocked off the Yankees to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2003.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody picked this club to be able to do anything this season, but we believed in ourselves,\u201d Mattingly said. \u201cIt\u2019s easy to be proud of these guys, the way they have dealt with everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Marlins lost 105 games last season and were impacted by a COVID-19 outbreak this year.<\/p>\n

The clincher also came on the fourth anniversary of pitcher Jose Fernandez\u2019s death in a boating accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo do this on his day, what a feeling,\u2019\u2019 Mattingly said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
