\n Humans may not be enjoying lockdown \u2014 but animals sure are.<\/p>\n

A zoo in the West Bank is experiencing an unprecedented baby boom \u2014 from baboons to peacocks.<\/p>\n

Fifteen babies were born in the two months that Qalqilya Zoo shut its doors to visitors \u2014 three times more than usual, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coronavirus spread at the same time that trip<\/a>s were expected at the zoo. They were canceled and therefore the animals started to give birth,\u201d zoo veterinarian Sami Khader told the outlet.<\/p>\n

One ostrich had the proper time to incubate her 11 eggs \u201cbecause there weren\u2019t people around her, she was able to build a nest\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The vet is working overtime because one baboon who gave birth wasn\u2019t interested in her baby.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy father had to bring him to our house,\u201d the vet\u2019s daughter, Hind Khader, said. \u201cI took care of him and gave him milk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, Krasnoyarsk\u2019s Royev Ruchey Zoo in Siberia welcomed\u00a0a bunch of babies, including rare Egyptian goslings, reindeer calves, llama crias and a baby brown weeper capuchin monkey.<\/p>\n

\u201cJudging by the baby boom, the lockdown has clearly been good for us because there are a lot of interesting and beautiful baby animals now,\u201d zoo director Andrei Gorban said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
