\n Andrew Thomas was as well-prepared as any rookie could be. He had spent the past two years as Georgia\u2019s starting left tackle, tangling with future first-round picks from Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Notre Dame.<\/p>\n

But there was no way to simulate who would line up across from him in the first two game<\/a>s of his NFL career.<\/p>\n

Following a debut matchup with acclaimed Steelers pass-rushers Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt \u2014 who combined for 26 sacks last season \u2014 the 21-year-old Giants rookie spent last week battling with the Bears\u2019 Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn, who have been selected to a combined seven Pro Bowls.<\/p>\n

The power and speed of the pro game didn\u2019t surprise him as much as the precision.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s how refined they are in their moves. They understand what they\u2019re doing,\u201d Thomas said after Friday\u2019s practice. \u201cIn the NFL, they take advantage of everything you do that might not be correct.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great start going against some guys like that. Some of those guys are the cream of the crop in the NFL, so it\u2019s a good start for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
