\nWe know that it was Demi Lovato<\/strong> who ultimately pulled the plug on her lightning-fast engagement to Max Ehrich, <\/strong>but was she so ready to finally cut him loose after all of those warning signs about his clout-chasing behavior that she actually forgot to give her ex the memo??<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the 29-year-old soap opera star officially broke his silence on the big breakup news<\/a> via his Instagram Story<\/strong> except, surprisingly enough, he\u2019s claiming that he found out things were over with the Sorry<\/em> singer \u201cthrough a tabloid.\u201d Wait, seriously dude??<\/p>\n

In case you missed it, an inside source relayed a PR-driven yet relatively positive statement to People<\/em> about the formerly engaged couple\u2019s decision to part ways:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers. They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

BTW, we saw right through that comment just like fans saw right through Max\u2019s real intentions to ride the 28-year-old singer\u2019s coattails to the top!<\/p>\n

But Ehrich offered a different side to the story in a new series<\/a> of posts, writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine finding out to the status of your relationship through a tabloid\u2026 While your in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a Pastor in a Christian Church whose intention of the film is to help people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He signed off by saying, \u201cGod bless,\u201d with the dove emoji, as seen in the screengrabs (below):<\/p>\n

Ummm, OK. Is the Young and The Restless<\/em> star trying to get some sympathy points with this statement? Because we\u2019re fairly certain Lovatics aren\u2019t giving them out these days \u2014 and especially not to him!<\/p>\n

Honestly, we think it\u2019s doubtful that Demi would go about ending things the way he claimed and it\u2019s even more interesting to see him adopt this stance of making her look like the bad guy when he was seemingly trying to win back her affection just a few days ago! Ehrich posted and deleted an IG video of him singing a love song (lyrics included \u201cI need your love\u201d) and grinning to the camera, captioning it, \u201cfight4u.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is he literally singing a different tune after his weak attempt went unnoticed? Lovato did<\/em> share an upload the social media<\/a> platform that same day looking cute as ever sans her engagement ring, and maybe that one stung a little too much? He did throw in a \u201cGod Bless\u201d to his followers for good measure, so who knows.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be interesting to see if and how Demi responds to her ex\u2019s claim. She might be better off letting him process this one on his own, cutting her losses, and starting fresh! A source previously shared how the pair\u2019s relationship left a really bad taste in her mouth right after the honeymoon phase, anyway:<\/p>\n
