\n INDIANAPOLIS \u2014 Pierre Desir probably figured he would be on the other side of this game<\/a> back in February.<\/p>\n

The cornerback had signed a three-year, $22.9 million contract with the Colts in 2019, but after his play slipped, Indianapolis cut Desir in March. The Jets signed him a day later to a one-year, $3.75 million deal. Now, Desir returns to the place where he spent the last three seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would lie if I said there isn\u2019t some type of feeling going back to Indy,\u201d Desir said. \u201cI gave three years there. I have some attachment to the city. The fans are awesome. For me, I just have to make sure I don\u2019t let those emotions overcome what I need to do. I still have a job to do. I still have to go out there and perform. But it\u2019s definitely something in the back of my mind, the situation that happ<\/a>ened with Indy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Desir had a rocky start to his Jets career. He was benched in the second quarter of their Week 1 loss in Buffalo after two penalties and allowing a touchdown. When Quincy Wilson, who had replaced him in the starting lineup, suffered a concussion in last week\u2019s loss to the 49ers, Desir got back in. He ended up intercepting a Nick Mullens pass and setting up the Jets with good field position, a bit of redemption after his slow start.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been here before,\u201d Desir said. \u201cI did the same thing with Indy back in 2018. I didn\u2019t start the first game. I think I played maybe seven snaps and that was all on special teams. I played the second game and did well. I\u2019ve been there before. I know how to handle the situation. It\u2019s one of those things where I trust in the coaches and they\u2019re just putting it on me that I have to continue to get better. I proved that I could do it in the past. I\u2019m going to continue to prove it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Desir is one of 11 former Colts on the Jets roster. The others are: Henry Anderson, Frank Gore, Tarell Basham, Nate Hairston, Matthias Farley, Josh Andrews, Arthur Maulet, Wilson, Thomas Hennessy and Ross Travis. Donte Moncrief, another former Colt, is on the practice squad injured reserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve definitely never experienced anything like this,\u201d Colts coach Frank Reich said of facing so many former players.<\/p>\n
