Starting with iOS 14, you can choose whether to place downloaded apps either on the Home screen or exclusively in the App Library\u00a0on your iPhone. The latter option can help you keep the Home screen uncluttered. Here\u2019s how to set it up.<\/p>\n

First, tap \u201cSettings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cHome Screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

Locate the \u201cNewly Downloaded Apps\u201d section. There, you\u2019ll find the following two choices:<\/p>\n

  • \u201cAdd to Home Screen\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0Choose this if you want new apps you download to appear on the Home screen (the default behavior prior to iOS 14). Apps will also appear in the App Library.<\/li>\n
  • \u201cApp Library Only\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0Choose this option if you don\u2019t want new apps to appear on the Home screen. You can still place them there manually later. Instead, they\u2019ll be in the App Library or you can open them via\u00a0Spotlight Search. You can get to the App Library by swiping right through all of your Home screen pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    After you make your selection, a checkmark will appear beside it.<\/p>\n

    Tap \u201cSettings\u201d and make sure the change has registered, and that\u2019s it! From now on, whenever you download a new app, it will appear in the location you chose.<\/p>\n

    If you chose \u201cApp Library Only,\u201d you can quickly find new apps in the \u201cRecently Added\u201d section of the App Library.<\/p>\n

    To move an app from the App Library to the Home screen, just long press its icon, and then tap \u201cAdd to Home Screen\u201d in the menu that appears.<\/p>\n

    If you chose \u201cAdd to Home Screen,\u201d newly downloaded apps will appear in a blank spot on one of your Home screen pages, as usual.<\/p>\n

    You can also move apps from the Home screen to the App Library. To do so, just tap and hold a blank area of the Home screen until the icons start to jiggle. Tap the app you want to move, tap \u201cRemove App,\u201d and then tap \u201cMove to App Library.\u201d<\/p>\n
