Smartphones are handy when you\u2019re navigating a new city. Sometimes, though, a computer is a better place to start. On Waze\u2019s web interface<\/a>, you can start a trip<\/a> on your computer, and then send it to your phone.<\/p>\n

Before we get started, make sure you have the Waze app<\/a> installed on your iPhone<\/a>, iPad<\/a>, or Android<\/a> device, and that you\u2019re signed in.<\/p>\n

Then, on your computer, open a web browser and navigate to Waze\u2019s website<\/a>. At the top right, click \u201cLog In\u201d (or open the menu first).<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see a QR code. Your iPhone, iPad, and some Android devices can scan QR codes with their built-in camera apps. Open the camera on your phone and point it at the QR code. A link should then appear on your phone.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t want to mess with QR codes, you can also click \u201cLog in Another Way Instead.\u201d This allows you to type your username and password.<\/p>\n

This process will sign you in on the web with the same account you use on your phone or tablet. After you\u2019re logged in on the web, click \u201cLive Map\u201d on the Waze home page.<\/p>\n

Type the location you want to navigate to in the text box at the top left.<\/p>\n

Select the location, and you\u2019ll see some information about it. Click \u201cDirections.\u201d<\/p>\n

Type your starting location (or click the Swap icon to return to a previous location). You can also click \u201cLeave Now\u201d or \u201cArrive By\u201d and type a time. When everything is as you want it, click \u201cSave to App.\u201d<\/p>\n

A notification will appear on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. If you chose an \u201cArrive By\u201d time, the notification will appear when it\u2019s time to leave; tap it to launch navigation in the Waze app.<\/p>\n

The Waze app will open, and you\u2019ll see some information about your trip. Tap \u201cGo Now\u201d to start navigating.<\/p>\n
