\n BBC the fire-surviving iguana wasn\u2019t going bananas Saturday \u2014 he just sat, too traumatized by all the commotion the night before to take even one bite of his favorite fruit.<\/p>\n

The pet 4-foot-long lizard hasn\u2019t eaten anything since a firefighter pulled him from the ruins of his Astoria apartment Friday evening, his relieved owner told The Post.<\/p>\n

A picture of the green reptile \u2014 in the arms of a soot-covered firefighter from Ladder Company 115 \u2014 captured hearts, including a few cold-blooded ones.<\/p>\n

But the firefighter, who modestly declined to be identified, claims BBC is the one who deserves the praise \u2014 for living through a massive blaze that took 60 firefighters over an hour to put out. Flames broke out just before 6 p.m. on the top floor of a three-story apartment building near the corner of 23rd Street and 25th Road.<\/p>\n

Crews were tearing down ceilings after the fire when one Boldest noticed an iguana \u201cchillin\u2019 on a bookshelf,\u201d an FDNY spokesman explained.<\/p>\n

The photographer, Chris Clarke, recognized he was witnessing a rare moment when the firefighter app<\/a>eared.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he came out of the building, he had this big smile on his face as he was talking to the other firefighters,\u201d Clarke said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first I thought he was carrying a cat. \u201cThen I realized that\u2019s not a cat \u2014 it\u2019s huge!<\/p>\n

The 6-year-old BBC was whisked away and handed off to a friend of his owner, Farouk Sakr, who had just arrived in Florida for a family vacation.<\/p>\n

Sakr\u2019s first thought when he heard about the fire was his pet, who he bought as a first anniversary gift for his wife on a trip<\/a> to Atlantic City.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank God\u201d were the words that came to his mind, Sakr, 49, told The Post. \u201cThat was the only thing I was looking forward to finding out. It was my whole concern.\u201d<\/p>\n

Knowing how stubborn BBC can be, Sakr wasn\u2019t surprised his reptile rose from the ashes.\u00a0\u201cHe is very smart,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are survivors \u2014 big time.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sakr looks forward to giving BBC a relaxing bath when he comes back in town:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019s panicking.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
