{"id":76434,"date":"2020-09-27T06:07:57","date_gmt":"2020-09-27T03:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/mets-dominic-smith-fine-after-crashing-into-wall-lobbies-to-keep-dh\/"},"modified":"2020-09-27T06:07:57","modified_gmt":"2020-09-27T03:07:57","slug":"mets-dominic-smith-fine-after-crashing-into-wall-lobbies-to-keep-dh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/mets-dominic-smith-fine-after-crashing-into-wall-lobbies-to-keep-dh\/","title":{"rendered":"#Mets\u2019 Dominic Smith fine after crashing into wall, lobbies to keep DH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Mets\u2019 Dominic Smith fine after crashing into wall, lobbies to keep DH<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/Mets_Nationals_Baseball.1-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        WASHINGTON \u2014 Dominic Smith was shaken, but not enough to consider an early exit from <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> 1 of Saturday\u2019s doubleheader.<\/p>\n<p>After face-planting the left-field fence in the fifth inning on Andrew Stevenson\u2019s flyball that became a game-tying, inside-the-park homer, Smith insisted he remain on the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no way any manager, coach or staff was going to pull me out of that game,\u201d Smith said after the Mets lost 4-3 and 5-3 to the Nationals, noting he passed concussion protocol.<\/p>\n<p>Smith said he is fine physically.<\/p>\n<p>In a season in which he shuffled between left field, first base and designated hitter, Smith is aware it\u2019s possible the DH won\u2019t stick in the National League next year, limiting his options. If the DH is eliminated, Pete Alonso would likely take the majority of playing time at first base, with Smith in left field.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"200\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/playlist.megaphone.fm?e=ADL4679179789&amp;light=true\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t put too much thought into it,\u201d Smith said. \u201cI\u2019m going to go into the offseason and work my butt off like I do every year. I\u2019m going to try to come in, and like I said last year, show them I can play all three outfield spots. Obviously I still have to work on my footspeed and range \u2014 it\u2019s a little bit of stretch to do all that \u2014 but it\u2019s just one of my goals, to be a complete player and a better player.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith, who owns a team-best .993 OPS, would like to think the DH will remain in the NL. The issue will be resolved by MLB and the Players Association before next season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would love [the DH],\u201d Smith said. \u201cThe 14 other National League teams, I am sure those teams would agree. Just to insert another bench guy into the lineup every day, giving 15 more guys an everyday job, and just being able to rotate some guys off, giving them a day off like that and have a DH day, I loved it and felt it kept a lot of us fresh and I don\u2019t see why we shouldn\u2019t adopt it the rest of the time. I hope we keep it and that\u2019s a position that I like.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Dellin Betances pitched a scoreless fifth inning in Game 2, in his first <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance since returning from the injured list.
