\n Five-plus years into his NFL career, do we really know who Carson Wentz is yet?<\/p>\n

Is he the franchise quarterback the Eagles drafted him to be in 2016?<\/p>\n

Is he the quarterback who in his second season threw 33 touchdown passes and just seven interceptions while pointing the Eagles toward the Super Bowl with an 11-2 record as a starter before he wrecked his knee and unwittingly made Nick Foles a multimillionaire?<\/p>\n

Is he the quarterback who\u2019s thrown 99 TD passes to just 39 INTs in his career to date?<\/p>\n

Or the quarterback who has a pedestrian 32-36 won-loss record as a starter, including 0-2 this season entering Sunday\u2019s home game<\/a> against the Bengals?<\/p>\n

Take out that 11-2 run in 2017 and Wentz is 21-24 as a starter. Those numbers do not scream the words \u201cfranchise quarterback,\u2019\u2019 and the natives in Philadelphia are becoming restless.<\/p>\n

Wentz is 50-of-85 for 512 yards, with two TDs, four INTs and a lost fumble in two games. He was 26-of-43 passing for 242 yards with no TDs and two INTs in last week\u2019s loss to the Rams. He\u2019s tied for most INTs in the league and ranks 29th in completion percentage (58.8).<\/p>\n

This led a reporter to ask Eagles coach Doug Pederson on Wednesday about what he termed \u201clay-up\u2019\u2019 passes that Wentz has been missing, which sent Pederson into a defensive, protect-my-quarterback mode.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you played quarterback in the National Football League?\u201d Pederson snapp<\/a>ed. \u201cThey\u2019re not lay-ups. There ain\u2019t a throw out here that\u2019s a lay-up.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

When Pederson was asked why Wentz has been regressing, his initial answer was rather revealing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good question,\u201d he said, sounding like someone without an answer.<\/p>\n\n

The mano-a-mano matchup of Week 3 comes out of Sunday\u2019s Bills-Rams game. It features Bills quarterback Josh Allen against Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who eviscerated Allen in a 2018 GQ Magazine interview in which he also torched several other NFL quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Allen is trash,\u201d Ramsey told the magazine. \u201cThat\u2019s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I\u2019m excited as hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramsey\u2019s rip job came even before Allen had thrown an NFL pass. Back then, Allen insisted Ramsey\u2019s rant didn\u2019t bother him. This week, he said: \u201cThat was so long ago. It\u2019s really a non-factor.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s see if it\u2019s still a non-factor if Allen, who\u2019s off to a great start this season, beats Ramsey on a couple TD passes or bowls him over on a run. Should be fun to watch.<\/p>\n\n

When the Texans play at Pittsburgh, it will feature a rarity: Three brothers playing in the same game. Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will be playing against his Steelers brothers \u2014 linebacker T.J. and fullback Derek.<\/p>\n

It will mark the second time since 1927 three brothers will play in an NFL game. It\u2019ll also be the first time all three brothers, who all played at Wisconsin, will play in a game together at any level of their careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt truly is incredible,\u201d J.J. told reporters this past week. \u201cJust to have all of us playing at Wisconsin was really cool. Now to have all of us on the field at the same time in the same game, it really doesn\u2019t get any better than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only negative: Because of COVID-19 protocols preventing fans from attending games at Heinz Field, the Watt parents, John and Connie, can\u2019t be inside the building to watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know they\u2019re proud and they\u2019ll be watching,\u2019\u2019 J.J. said. \u201cIt\u2019ll be a special day.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
