\n Mandatory evacuations were issued Sunday morning in areas of Northern California after a fast-moving wildfire erupted as the region faces extreme fire weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Cal Fire said the Glass Fire broke out early Sunday morning east of Calistoga in Napa County and was burning north of St. Helena near the community of Deer Park.<\/p>\n

Officials said the blaze had consumed at least 800 acres as of 11 a.m. EDT and had a \u201cdangerous rate of speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fire remains completely uncontained, according to the agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Napa County Sheriff\u2019s Office said<\/a>\u00a0mandatory evacuations were ordered on Silverado Trail, Lark Mead Lane to Deer Park Road as well as from Deer Park Road to Devils Elbow.<\/p>\n

Parts of the community of Angwin were also under evacuation orders. Officials were urging people in Angwin to evacuate because their evacuation route could become blocked.<\/p>\n

One resident on Crystal Springs Road told KTVU<\/a> she could hear propane tanks exploding in the distance and believed the fire was burning in an area with homes and wineries.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not said if any structures have burned, but at least six wineries are located within the evacuation zone, according to KTVU.<\/p>\n

Patients are being evacuated from St. Helena Hospital, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District<\/a>. Adventist Health St. Helena said on Facebook<\/a> it is \u201ctemporarily suspending emergency and hospital care, and all patients will be transferred,\u201d because of the fire.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office warned those evacuating from the area to not stop or park in turnouts to view the fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst responders often need access to the turnouts to park emergency vehicles. Please allow first responders to do their jobs,\u201d police said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Napa County officials are opening an evacuation center at Crosswalk Community Church on First Street in Napa as\u00a0Cal\u00a0Fire\u00a0teams from San Mateo and Santa Cruz Counties were called in for assistance.<\/p>\n

California is facing a new stretch of hot, dry weather with potentially strong winds that could cause power lines to arc and spark new blazes in parched vegetation that\u2019s ready to burn.<\/p>\n

The state\u2019s largest utility,\u00a0Pacific Gas and\u00a0Electric\u00a0Company (PG&E) said Saturday a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)\u00a0will\u00a0begin early Sunday morning and\u00a0impact 89,000 customers overall in portions of 16 counties and a tribe.<\/p>\n

Red Flag warnings for extreme fire weather conditions are in effect in northern and central areas of the state at 9 p.m. Saturday and last into Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).<\/p>\n

More than 8,000 California wildfires so far this year have scorched 5,600 square miles, destroyed more than 7,000 buildings, and killed 26 people.<\/p>\n

Most of the loss has occurred since a massive outbreak of fires\u00a0was ignited by a large\u00a0number of dry lightning strikes in mid-August in the northern part of the state.<\/p>\n

The renewed concern of weather igniting new blazes came with some 17,000 firefighters still on the lines of 25 major wildfires statewide, according to Cal Fire.<\/p>\n
