We all have too many online accounts and too many passwords to remember.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Password fatigue is real \u2014 but password managers or single sign-ons (<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Single_sign-on\">SSO<\/a><span>) can take away the chore of having to recollect your passwords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>SSO, especially those from Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>, LinkedIn, Twitter, and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le, make the process even more seamless, as you only need one set of credentials to access multiple apps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite the benefits, SSOs introduce new risks of their own. They need to be constantly available. If something goes wrong with an SSO, you won\u2019t be able to access any of the sites you <\/span>use<span> it to log in with.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" data-file-id=\"57578\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/22ec88eb9b9d8bc3bcf660787\/images\/fe18bb36-8297-4dde-82bc-705913643146.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><span>Even worse, if a hacker breaches your SSO provider, all your accounts could be exposed to <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Credential_stuffing\">credential-stuffing<\/a><span>, allowing an attacker to use that leaked password to sign in to other services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2018, Facebook, for example,\u00a0<\/span>disclosed a data breach<span> that impacted 50 million of its users. The breach allowed attackers to steal their access tokens used to login to Spotify, Instagram, etc. The company then reset the tokens to prevent further misuse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>More recently, amid the <\/span>escalating war of words<span> between Apple and Epic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>s, the gaming company warned that Apple intended to revoke Epic\u2019s integration of \u201c<\/span>Sign In With Apple<span>.\u201d This came in retaliation for introducing a direct payment option violating App Store policies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Apple ultimately extended the deadline, but it led Epic to urge users to\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epicgames.com\/help\/en-US\/epic-accounts-c74\/connect-accounts-c110\/how-do-i-retain-access-to-my-epic-games-account-after-sign-in-with-apple-ends-a6894\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/www.epicgames.com\/help\/en-US\/epic-accounts-c74\/connect-accounts-c110\/how-do-i-retain-access-to-my-epic-games-account-after-sign-in-with-apple-ends-a6894?utm_source=TNW&amp;utm_campaign=fff4063cb1-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_24_09_28_COPY_02&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_32f70ba9aa-fff4063cb1-&amp;mc_cid=fff4063cb1&amp;mc_eid=[UNIQID]\">switch to a different email address<\/a><span>\u00a0to maintain access to their accounts \u2014 or risk getting permanently locked out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This incident is yet another reason why it\u2019s always a better idea to use password managers over SSOs. Just make sure you\u2019re not reusing the same password and your account is secured by 2FA.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"h2 mso-font\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_trending_in_security\"><\/span><span>What\u2019s trending in security?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>A <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehackernews.com\/2020\/09\/a-patient-dies-after-ransomware-attack.html\">patient died<\/a><span> after a ransomware attack crippled a German hospital, TikTok <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.oversecured.com\/Oversecured-detects-dangerous-vulnerabilities-in-the-TikTok-Android-app\/\">fixed a number of security issues<\/a><span> in its Android app, and Zoom finally <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.zoom.us\/secure-your-zoom-account-with-two-factor-authentication\/\">added support<\/a><span> for 2FA.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<span>A woman in Germany died during a <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/malpedia.caad.fkie.fraunhofer.de\/details\/win.doppelpaymer\">Doppelpaymer<\/a><span> ransomware attack on the Dusseldorf University Hospital. This is the first death directly linked to a cyberattack on a healthcare facility. The case is being treated as negligent homicide. [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehackernews.com\/2020\/09\/a-patient-dies-after-ransomware-attack.html\">The Hacker News<\/a><span>]<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>Hackers working for Russia, China, and Iran have recently escalated their attacks ahead of the upcoming US presidential election. [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/on-the-issues\/2020\/09\/10\/cyberattacks-us-elections-trump-biden\/\">Microsoft<\/a><span>]<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>In what\u2019s largest attack since 2015, more than 2,000 Magento online stores have been compromised to plant malicious web skimmers to steal payment information. [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sansec.io\/research\/largest-magento-hack-to-date\">Sansec<\/a><span>]<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>Cybersecurity firm RiskIQ is keeping track of all domains and hostnames containing the last name of each of the four US presidential candidates \u2014 Biden, Hawkins, Jorgensen, and Trump \u2014 so that researchers can assess if they are malicious. [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/campaign-observations.riskiq.com\/\">RiskIQ<\/a><span>]<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"post-image post-mediaBleed aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" data-file-id=\"57522\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/22ec88eb9b9d8bc3bcf660787\/images\/d9680da8-6f1f-4d16-9d15-899240eb5e1d.jpeg\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<span>A researcher found a database from Chinese company, Shenzhen Zhenhua, that contained details on 2.4 million influential people around the world, their kids, and how to exert influence over them. [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2020\/09\/15\/china_shenzhen_zhenhua_database\/\">The Register<\/a><span>]<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>The encryption debate is back. According to a new proposal by the European Commission, EU law enforcement authorities would be allowed to access end-to-end encrypted communications as part of \u201ctargeted lawful access\u201d to help crackdown on child abuse networks and other organised crime. He followed the trail from London all the way to the city of Paramaribo, Suriname. But new documents show the malware had the capability of collecting \u201call data stored within a device,\u201d including chat messages, geolocation data, usernames, passwords, and the list of WiFi access points near the device.
