\n A Michigan lawmaker is under fire for a Facebook post showing a stack of loaded firearm magazines and alluding to George Floyd protests, according to a report.<\/p>\n

State Rep. Gary Eisen said in a social media post that a client came into his welding shop and alleged that those involved in the nationwide protests and riots are \u201cliberals\u201d because \u201cliberals look for trouble and civil unrest and Conservatives PREPARE for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 so i thought maybe I will load up a few more mags\u2026.\u201d Eisen wrote, alongside a photo of several magazines and target ammunition.<\/p>\n

The post drew a rebuke from some dozens of Facebook users, including one poster who replied, \u201cYour statement alone shows you are wanting something to happ<\/a>en and you should be representing the people who are being oppressed by a system that wants them dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

One resident, Jim Soto, called for Eisen to quit his state legislative post.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe should resign,\u201d Soto told the Detroit News<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no ifs, and or buts about it. This isn\u2019t a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Eisen said Tuesday that the post was meant sarcastically, and accused detractors of trying to \u201cmake something out of nothing,\u201d the Detroit News reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not threatening anybody,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cI\u2019m just saying I have the right to go in my house and protect myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

And many responding to his Facebook post agreed.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery wise words, it never hurts to be prepared as the old motto goes!\u201d one man wrote. \u201cWe the people of God and the Patriots need to stand firm so our foundational beliefs don\u2019t vanish from our State and Our Country, the hearts of our people!\u201d<\/p>\n

Eisen, a St. Clair Township Republican, said he supports the protests, but not the violence and looting that has resulted in some cities.<\/p>\n

The death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day has sparked nationwide outrage and protests that have periodically turned violent.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
