\n Seven people were shot in separate incidents across the city on Sunday \u2014 including a man who was killed by his own father in Staten Island \u2014 according to preliminary numbers released by the NYPD.<\/p>\n

Most recently, a 35-year-old man was blasted in the buttocks during a dispute on East 108th Street near Madison Avenue in East Harlem around 6:30 p.m., cops said.<\/p>\n

He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals\/Harlem in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Around 3 p.m., a 19-year-old man was struck in the torso on Herzl Street near Lott Avenue in Brownsville, cops said.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Just over two hours earlier, 68-year-old Joseph Smith fatally shot his 34-year-old son, also named Joseph Smith, in their Beverly Road home in the Concord neighborhood of Staten Island, according to cops.<\/p>\n

The father, who has since been arrested, claimed he was holding a shotgun as he argued with his son. He said he assumed the safety was on the weapon \u2014 but it was not.<\/p>\n

The younger Smith, who was shot in the stomach, was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

His father was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.<\/p>\n

On Sunday\u2019s date in 2019, which was a Friday, four people were shot in eight separate incidents.<\/p>\n

Three people were shot in two incidents on Saturday, compared to the same number in three incidents last year, police said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
