No Sudden Move<\/em><\/strong>, a new heist film from Mr. Steven Soderbergh<\/strong>, is rounding out its cast.\u00a0Don Cheadle<\/strong>, Benicio Del Toro<\/strong>, Amy Seimetz<\/strong>, Ray Liotta<\/strong>, Bill Duke<\/strong>, Julia Fox<\/strong>, and Jon Hamm<\/strong> are already on board, and now\u00a0David Harbour<\/strong>, Noah Jupe<\/strong>, Brendan Fraser<\/strong>, and\u00a0Kieran Culkin<\/strong> are joining the project as well. The film, previously titled\u00a0Kill Switch<\/em>, follows a group of\u00a0small-time criminals in 1950s Detroit.<\/p>\n

A new Steven Soderbergh movie is always exciting, but a new Steven Soderbergh\u00a0heist<\/em> movie? Now we\u2019re talking! Soderbergh is no stranger to the genre, having helmed the\u00a0Ocean\u2019s<\/em> trilogy as well as the more recent\u00a0Logan Lucky<\/em>. And now he has\u00a0No Sudden Move<\/em>, a heist flick that has put together a great cast. David Harbour, Noah Jupe, Kieran Culkin, and Brendan Fraser have all joined the film, which also features\u00a0Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Amy Seimetz, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Bill Duke, Frankie Shaw<\/strong>, and Julia Fox.
\nAt one point, the film \u2013 previously titled\u00a0Kill Switch<\/em> \u2013 was also set to feature\u00a0George Clooney, John Cena, and Sebastian Stan, but when filming got delayed due to the coronavirus, those three actors had to vacate their roles. Now, the\u00a0HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures production are set to start filming in Detroit today, with \u201cstrict COVID-19 safety protocols\u201d being \u201cenforced to ensure the health and safety of cast and crew.\u201d<\/p>\n

The script<\/a> comes courtesy of\u00a0Ed Solomon<\/strong>, a writer with credits including\u00a0Men in Black<\/em>,\u00a0Now You See Me<\/em>, and the recently released\u00a0Bill and Ted Face the Music<\/em>, which Soderbergh executive produced. Set in Detroit in 1955, No Sudden Move<\/em> \u201ccenters on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them \u2013 and for what ultimate purpose \u2013 weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a solid cast overall, but I have to admit the name I\u2019m most excited to see here is Brendan Fraser. We\u2019re long overdue for the Brendan Fraserssance. Soderbergh, meanwhile, remains as prolific as ever. Hell, he\u2019s so prolific that even after he announced he was \u201cretiring\u201d from filmmaking he shot two full seasons of TV with\u00a0The Knick<\/em>. And then he got back into movies<\/a>, too. Soderbergh has been using iPhones for his recent work, shooting both\u00a0Unsane<\/em> and\u00a0High Flying Bird<\/em> via iPhone. As a result, he\u2019s able to churn out titles at a faster rate. It\u2019s unclear if he\u2019s taking a similar approach to\u00a0No Sudden Move<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time I shot a movie in Detroit with a great script and a great cast things worked out really well, so I\u2019m very excited behind my mask right now,\u201d said Soderbergh.<\/p>\n

In addition to\u00a0No Sudden Move<\/em>, Soderbergh also has the upcoming\u00a0Let Them All Talk<\/em> starring\u00a0Meryl Streep and Gemma Chan, which is set to premiere on HBO Max sometime soon.
