The remaining 54% will stick with distance learning at least half of the week. (Middle and high school begins Oct. 1.)<\/p>\n<p>But it can all be a giant, ongoing headache for moms and dads, who often have to slide into the role of teachers\u2019 aides, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can feel overwhelming, and it\u2019s never going to be as good as being fully in-person,\u201d said Elizabeth Stephens, a mom of two who works for the Yonkers school district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we have come a long way since the spring, when distance learning was a shock for everyone,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology<\/a> has improved and people have gotten more used to it. It helps if you create a routine or schedule [that mimics the physical school day] while allowing for flexibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post spoke to Stephens and six other heroic teachers on both sides of the struggle: educating students while also monitoring remote learning for their own kids. Put temptations like favorite toys and gaming devices out of sight. And, as adorable as they are, ensure pets don\u2019t interfere with class by making cameo <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earances on-screen.<\/p>\n<p>Dara Abrams, mom of two and a teacher at PS 189 in Washington Heights, recommends taking short breaks every 20 to 30 minutes to let off steam by doing jumping jacks or bouncing on exercise balls. Just like in a regular classroom, it pays to shift between more intense learning and fun physical activities. Fidget spinners and stress balls could also come in handy. It reminds children that their behavior is being monitored and holds them accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only is there great excitement when he earns a sticker for each completed assignment or task, he knows he will earn a special reward [like a snack or inexpensive toy] when his whole chart is filled,\u201d said Abrams, who suggested the technique be employed for students aged between 2 and 7 or 8. \u201cFor younger kids or ones that need a faster ability to earn their reward, you can do a chart with about 10 squares. As time goes on, [add] more squares, so they take a little longer to reach their goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" fear the relationship with their kids might change now that they\u2019re disciplining and correcting their school work throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>Mom of four Luvenia Harris, a kindergarten teacher at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kipp.org\/school\/kipp-infinity-elementary-school\/\">KIPP: Infinity Elementary School<\/a> in Harlem, recommends the idea of an \u201cafter-school reset\u201d to remind everyone in the household that they\u2019re first and foremost a family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe make sure that there is some time for fun after we\u2019ve checked our school work, cleaned up and gotten everything done,\u201d said Harris, whose kids are ages 2 to 19. \u201cWe put away our screens and go for a walk together, play board <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s and even just dance around to amuse our toddler, who loves to listen to music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Harris clan also makes a point of sitting down to dinner every night to \u201csync\u201d as a family and discuss the day\u2019s ups and downs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talk about the \u2018why\u2019 behind me having to play the two roles of teacher and mom,\u201d explained Harris, who urges other parents to have age-appropriate conversations second-grader Caden, organized a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> page for the parents and caregivers of her son\u2019s classmates. \u201cWe share events or any changes to this school year that parents may be concerned about,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s also a good way of sharing tips to keep children focused and engaged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such interaction has produced ideas like at-home scavenger hunts, art activities using egg cartons and easy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> experiments such as adding food coloring to water, freezing it in ice cubes and watching them melt. \u201cWe brainstorm what has worked to keep them engaged but also learning,\u201d added it is to take the easy option and give in to your kids\u2019 demands for candy or cookies during this stressful time, stick to healthy alternatives that won\u2019t load them up with sugar.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Toffler, a teacher at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hamiltonparkmontessori.com\/\">Hamilton Park Montessori School<\/a> in Jersey City, recommends setting out nutritional snacks portioned in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montessoriservices.com\/practical-life\/pouring-transferring\/bowls-dishes\/round-wooden-bowl\">small bowls<\/a> so young children gain independence by being able to select what they eat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor my 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte, I prepare food like fruits, hummus and pita, crackers with nut butter, yogurt pouches and healthy muffins we might have made together
