\n Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani argued that the fatal police shooting of Rayshard Brooks is different than the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers and said video of the encounter outside a fast-food restaurant in Atlanta may \u201cjustify this use of force.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever the Atlanta shooting is, it is not the George Floyd case,\u201d Giuliani wrote on Twitter<\/a> early Sunday morning. \u201cThis video app<\/a>ears to present circumstances which may justify this use of force.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only responsible position is to suspend judgment until a full investigation is done,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Brooks, 27, was shot by an Atlanta police officer late Friday evening after he failed a sobriety test and struggled with the officers as they tried to take him into custody, according to video released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n

Brooks grabbed one of the officer\u2019s Taser as they wrestled in the parking lot outside a Wendy\u2019s and fled.<\/p>\n

The officers pursued Brooks who at one point turned and appeared to fire the Taser.<\/p>\n

At that point, an officer fired three times at Brooks, the video shows.<\/p>\n

The incident set off widespread unrest in Atlanta, which is already on edge over Floyd\u2019s death in Minneapolis on May 25.<\/p>\n

The protests set the Wendy\u2019s ablaze and blocked roads in the demonstrations that stetched into Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Giuliani, one of President Trump\u2019s personal lawyers, also called out the protests for setting the fast-food joint ablaze.<\/p>\n

Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields resigned on Saturday.<\/p>\n

One of the officers, Garrett Rolfe, was terminated and the other, Devin Brosnan, was placed on administrative leave.<\/p>\n

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Brooks shouldn\u2019t have been shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile there may be debate as to whether this was an appropriate use of deadly force, I firmly believe that there is a clear distinction between what you can do and what you should do,\u201d Bottoms said in a news<\/a> conference on Saturday. \u201cI do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force.\u201d<\/p>\n

Floyd was killed after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into Floyd\u2019s neck for nearly nine minutes after he was picked up on suspicion of trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.<\/p>\n

Floyd was handcuffed and unarmed.<\/p>\n

Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder charges. Three other officers who took part in detaining Floyd have been charged with aiding and abetting.<\/p>\n
