{"id":78438,"date":"2020-09-30T05:00:07","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T02:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/amazon-unveils-supermarket-palm-reader-to-lower-checkout-times\/"},"modified":"2020-09-30T05:00:07","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T02:00:07","slug":"amazon-unveils-supermarket-palm-reader-to-lower-checkout-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/amazon-unveils-supermarket-palm-reader-to-lower-checkout-times\/","title":{"rendered":"#Amazon unveils supermarket palm reader to lower checkout times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Amazon unveils supermarket palm reader to lower checkout times<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/amazon-bezos.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        Amazon is getting into palm-reading \u2014 but it wants to sell you groceries rather than tell your fortune.<\/p>\n<p>The e-commerce colossus on Thursday officially announced a new checkout-counter device that will allow shoppers to pay for groceries at retail stores using the palms of their hands \u2014 a year after The Post revealed that the project was in the works.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called Amazon One device uses high-tech imaging and algorithms to create and detect a \u201cunique palm signature\u201d based on the ridges, lines and veins in each person\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n<p>The system, which the company has rolled out at two of its Amazon Go stores in Seattle, uses the biometric information to link each hand to a credit card the shopper has on file.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe Amazon One has broad <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>licability beyond our retail stores, so we also plan to offer the service to third parties like retailers, stadiums, and office buildings so that more people can benefit from this ease and convenience in more places,\u201d Dilip Kumar, Amazon\u2019s vice president of physical retail and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, wrote in a blog post.<\/p>\n<p>The Post reported last year that Amazon\u2019s ultimate goal is to roll out its hand scanners at all Whole Foods supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon acquired the organic-goods chain for $13.4\u2009billion in June 2017.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of The Post\u2019s 2019 report, an Amazon spokesperson refused to answer questions about the technology, then code-named \u201cProject Orville.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While a regular card transaction typically takes between three and four seconds, Amazon\u2019s technology can process the charge in less than 300 milliseconds, a person familiar with the project said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRetailers have always been interested in faster checkout,\u201d Majd Maksad, founder and CEO of Status Money, a personal finance site, told The Post in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou only have to walk into Whole Foods to see the massive lines of people waiting to check out.
