\n \u201cBattlestar Galactica\u201d actress and Nxivm devotee Nicki Clyne \u2014 the wife of former \u201cSmallville\u201d star Allison Mack \u2014 defended the upstate cult Tuesday, saying she wouldn\u2019t trade her experiences in it \u201cfor anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very unfortunate the way that the word \u2018Nxivm\u2019 has been app<\/a>lied and is now synonymous with the term \u2018sexual cult,\u2019 which I don\u2019t even know how to define what that is,\u201d Clyne told CBS\u2019 \u201cThis Morning\u201d<\/a> alongside four other Nxivm members.<\/p>\n

The five supporters recently brought a bizarre petition<\/a> to Brooklyn federal prosecutors demanding they answer questions about alleged prosecutorial misconduct committed against Nxivm co-founder and convicted sex trafficker Keith Raniere.<\/p>\n

Raniere was convicted on a slew of charges<\/a> in 2019 for starting a master-slave group called DOS within Nxivm in which, prosecutors said, women were forced to seduce him, go on strict diets and have his initials branded onto their skin. He\u2019s currently behind bars at a Brooklyn detention center awaiting an Oct. 27 sentencing.<\/p>\n

Clyne, who allegedly quit her job on the set of \u201cBattlestar\u201d to follow Raniere, admitted to being a part of DOS, but defended the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not denying that certain things took place,\u201d Clyne, who\u2019s never been charged with a crime, told CBS.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s evidence that certain things happened. How they happened, why they happened and why certain people chose them \u2014 that\u2019s a whole other conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Canadian starlet \u2014 who can be seen in footage from the purported self-help group in the HBO docuseries \u201cThe Vow\u201d<\/a> \u2014 gave the interview\u00a0a day before Seagram\u2019s liquor heiress Clare Bronfman, who bankrolled Nxivm, is set to be sentenced<\/a> for her role in the group.<\/p>\n

Mack, purportedly Raniere\u2019s right-hand woman in DOS, has pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy charges, including extortion and forced labor \u2014 admitting that she instructed women in the group \u201cto perform services for me\u201d and that the system was \u201cdesigned to make them think they could suffer serious harm\u201d if they didn\u2019t perform those tasks, because they\u2019d handed over damaging collateral like nude photos.<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors claimed in 2018 that Mack and Clyne were wed \u201cat the behest of \u2026 Keith Raniere\u201d but the two haven\u2019t spoken for a year and a half as the demure blonde awaits sentencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart of the conditions of her bail is that she can\u2019t speak to anyone who is affiliated in any way with the case or Nxivm,\u201d Clyne said. \u201cThis has been the hardest, most humbling experience of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the serious charges against Nxivm, Clyne said she wouldn\u2019t hesitate to continue being part of the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t trade my experiences for anything,\u201d she said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
