“#De Blasio says he’ll stick to outdoor dining in NYC amid COVID-19<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Way to support struggling restaurants, Mr. Mayor.<\/p>\n

Despite the long-awaited return of partial indoor dining for a New York City restaurant industry devastated by the COVID-19 lockdown, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday he will not have a meal inside a Big App<\/a>le eatery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m going to do for sure in the coming days is continue, as I have, to enjoy outdoor dining first while the weather\u2019s still good,\u201d de Blasio said during a City Hall press briefing.<\/p>\n

Restaurants reopened for indoor dining at just 25 percent capacity Wednesday for the first time since March when the coronavirus pandemic first plagued the city.<\/p>\n

Eateries financially ravaged by the health crisis were able to re-open for outdoor dining only on June 22.<\/p>\n

And de Blasio says his outdoor dining experiences at joints like Mario\u2019s in The Bronx and Melba\u2019s in Harlem \u201chave been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to keep doing that for the foreseeable future,\u201d Hizzoner said, explaining, \u201cAnd then of course shift to indoor when the outdoor isn\u2019t as prevalent because of the weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed by a Post reporter on his decision to not eat indoors right away and whether he\u2019s concerned about the example he\u2019s setting for every day New Yorkers, de Blasio said, \u201cI\u2019m not concerned about the message.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying I personally just prefer outdoor dining and so long as it\u2019s available I would always choose it,\u201d de Blasio added.<\/p>\n
