Creating accurate polls is an exacting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> that requires carefully crafting questions so as not to influence the outcome, selecting a representative and randomized audience, and certifying results.<\/p>\n<p>Or you could just use a Twitter poll.<\/p>\n<p>It might not be accurate or representative, it might be impossible to know who voted, but on the bright side, it can be ready in mere minutes. It\u2019s sort of like cooking a steak in the microwave.<\/p>\n<p>After the debate, Telemundo <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> did a Twitter poll asking in Spanish whether people thought Trump or Biden won.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">?? <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Decision2020?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Decision2020<\/a>: \u00bfQui\u00e9n gan\u00f3 el <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PrimerDebate?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PrimerDebate<\/a> presidencial?<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PresidentialDebate?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PresidentialDebate<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PresidentialDebates2020?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PresidentialDebates2020<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Noticias Telemundo (@TelemundoNews) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TelemundoNews\/status\/1311133519020732417?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>This is fairly common practice among media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>However, it isn\u2019t common for other news organizations to rely on the poll like was conducted by FiveThirtyEight or Pew Research Center. But that\u2019s just what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened.<\/p>\n<p>After a majority voted that Trump won the debate in the extremely unscientific poll, right-leaning media jumped on it. Headline after headline boasted about a Telemundo poll finding that a majority of Spanish-speakers thought Trump won. Some claimed, without evidence, that those polled were Americans (Twitter is available worldwide) or Telemundo viewers, which is impossible to know. It\u2019s also impossible to know if those who responded to the poll spoke Spanish, as translation is available on Twitter and doesn\u2019t exactly take fluency in Spanish to know that a tweet that includes #PresidentialDebate and has the candidates\u2019 names as the options is asking who won the debate.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t stop White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kayleighmcenany\/status\/1311155585056817160?s=20\">touting<\/a> the poll, as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/charliekirk11\/status\/1311155290721497089?s=20\">did<\/a> other Trump supporters. Fox News host Sean Hannity even read its results live on air last night as if was a reliable measure of who Latinx voters thought won the debate.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sean Hannity cites &#8220;flash polls&#8221; from Telemundo and WGN showing Trump beating Biden 2-1, adds that &#8220;the mainstream media will have corrupt polls as they always do.&#8221; <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/I76RnZx3sf\">pic.twitter.com\/I76RnZx3sf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matthew Gertz (@MattGertz) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattGertz\/status\/1311151104479105024?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>Newsweek<\/em> also used the poll as if it was legitimate.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">66 percent of Spanish-speaking Americans in Telemundo poll think Trump just won the debate <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7C5OtmQTPn\">https:\/\/t.co\/7C5OtmQTPn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Newsweek (@Newsweek) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Newsweek\/status\/1311220251359670272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>People were stunned; not by the results, by the fact that anyone would claim the poll was legitimate. It certainly should\u2019ve been a red flag that Trump trails Biden by 42 points among Latinx voters nationwide, according to a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.univision.com\/univision-news\/politics\/biden-is-the-clear-favorite-among-hispanics-but-trump-cuts-the-lead-in-florida-univision-poll\">Univision poll<\/a> released on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Newsweek\">@Newsweek<\/a> gets dragged for filth &amp; laziness,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jerri_Lynn25\/status\/1311350910132469760?s=20\">tweeted<\/a> @Jerri_Lynn25. \u201cThis is irresponsible \u2018journalism\u2019 to say the least.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast reporter Laclan Markay <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lachlan\/status\/1311350729555152896?s=20\">remarked<\/a>, \u201cTurns out that Telemundo debate survey trumpeted far and wide by the president\u2019s campaign and allies was\u2026this Twitter poll.\u201d<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jerri_Lynn25\/status\/1311350910132469760\/photo\/1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">OH.<br \/>MY.<br \/>GOD.<\/p>\n<p>This was based on a *TWITTER POLL* Telemundo asked people to &#8220;vote&#8221; on.
