\n President Vladimir Putin claimed Russia has handled the coronavirus pandemic better than the United States \u2014 knocking President Trump\u2019s leadership during the crisis, according to a report Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working rather smoothly and emerging from this situation with the coronavirus confidently and, with minimal losses. \u2026 But in the (United) States that is not happ<\/a>ening,\u201d Putin told state TV.<\/p>\n

Putin said Moscow\u2019s response was more coordinated than Washington\u2019s because Russian authorities worked in unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t imagine someone in the (Russian) government or regions saying we are not going to do what the government or president say,\u201d said Putin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems to me that the problem (in the United States) is that group, in this case party interests, are put above those of society\u2019s as a whole, above the interests of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russia, according to Johns Hopkins University\u2019s coronavirus map, has the third-highest reported number of cases in the world, with 528,267.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s behind Brazil with 850,514 cases and the US with 2,083,082 cases.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s official death toll is 6,938, compared with America\u2019s 115,578 \u2014 but its tallies have been met with skepticism.<\/p>\n

It almost doubled its official fatality numbers for April on Saturday after the World Health Organization questioned how low it seemed, according to the Washington Post.<\/p>\n
