Maccagnan used to call me,\u201d Francesa said <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BackAftaThis\/status\/1311105301932896256?s=20\">on Adam Schein\u2019s podcast<\/a>. \u201cMaccagnan was an odd guy. He didn\u2019t do anybody any extra favors. He never gave me a scoop. But he used to call me and pick my brain, I can say that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Francesa said he told Maccagnan he needed a veteran coach, but never suggested he hire Adam Gase. I was puzzled by the whole Gase thing,\u201d Francesa said. \u201cI never understood it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maccagnan was fired in May of 2019 and replaced by Joe Douglas.
