\n Nintendo today revealed the latest character to join the already bloated roster of\u00a0Super Smash Bros Ultimate<\/em>. And it\u2019s\u2026 Minecraft Steve? The heck?<\/p>\n

Yes, app<\/a>arently Steve from Minecraft\u00a0<\/em>will be part of the latest\u00a0Smash Bros<\/em> DLC, called Fighter Pass Vol. 2, following the addition of Min-Min from\u00a0ARMS<\/em>. Their inclusion comes with a new\u00a0Minecraft\u00a0<\/em>stage, along with echo fighters like Alex, Zombie and Enderman. The reactions I saw on Twitter<\/a> were utter bemusement at the news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even director Masahiro Sakurai seemed to anticipate the obvious response, saying, \u201cWhat exactly did we just watch?\u201d In fact, his explanation appeared to be about 75% exasperation that he was asked to make a character from\u00a0Minecraft\u00a0<\/em>work in Smash Bros.\u00a0Joking or not, he seemed to be adding the character largely on sufferance, and\u2026 wow, that\u2019s a mood. He also said they\u2019d have to rework their stages to accommodate Steve\u2019s fighting style, which involves \u2014 you guessed it \u2014 blocks. But they managed it.<\/p>\n

Speaking of fighting style, we\u2019ll get more details on that later, but it appears Steve will be able to build obstacles on the stage, and his pickaxe will be his primary weapon. Beyond that, it\u2019s all supposition, but it looks as though Steve and Alex will be able to use TNT, mine carts, and wings to square up against the other fighters.<\/p>\n
