I\u2019m sure that\u2019s debatable, but it\u2019s definitely\u00a0<em>one<\/em> of the best decades. Horror \u2013 when done well \u2013 always reflects the era it exists in, and in the \u201970s, people were still reeling from the turbulent 1960s, with the Vietnam War very much still a reality. As a result, the horror of the era is often loaded with heavy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a>s and violence that was \u2013 at the time \u2013 quite shocking.<\/p>\n<p>And now, The Criterion Channel is bringing 29 of those <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> together for October (well, technically 28 \u2013 one of them doesn\u2019t arrive until November, so I\u2019m not entirely sure why Criterion included it on this list) in order to help with your Halloween season movie marathon. Romero (The Crazies), Wes Craven (The Hills Have Eyes), Brian De Palma (Sisters), and David Cronenberg (The Brood) responded to the decade\u2019s heightened political anxieties and Vietnam War\u2013era sense of disillusionment by pushing the genre\u2019s psychological intensity and visceral violence to shocking new heights. Across the Atlantic, Britain\u2019s legendary Hammer Films continued to serve up old-school gothic spine-tinglers (The Vampire Lovers), while auteurs like Nicolas Roeg (Don\u2019t Look Now) wedded spellbinding terror to art-house experimentation.
