“#President Trump, First Lady test positive for COVID-19<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n President Trump announced early Friday that he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cTonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immedia<\/a>tely. We will get through this TOGETHER!,\u201d the president tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first lady said the two \u201care feeling good,\u201d in her own tweet addressing the diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

A memorandum<\/a> dated Thursday from the president\u2019s physician said the president and first lady \u201cplan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The memo added: \u201cRest assured I expect the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering,\u201d<\/p>\n

Hours before Trump announced his positive COVID-19 results, news<\/a> broke that one of his top aides, Hope Hicks, was diagnosed with the illness earlier Thursday.<\/p>\n

Hicks had travel<\/a>ed aboard Air Force One with the Trumps to Tuesday\u2019s presidential debate in Cleveland. She also accompanied Trump to his Wednesday night rally in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Trump did a Fox News phone interview Thursday night where he acknowledged spending \u201ca lot of time\u201d with Hicks and said he was awaiting the results of his test.<\/p>\n

Trump also explained to host Sean Hannity that he and his staff run into issues with social distancing because Americans are often app<\/a>roaching them to express thanks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen soldiers and law enforcement comes up to her, you know, she wants to treat them great,\u201d Trump said about Hicks. \u201cNot say, \u2018Stay away, I can\u2019t get near you.\u2019 It\u2019s a very, very tough disease.\u201d<\/p>\n
