\n Video shows a confrontation between a cyclist and a driver turn downright disgusting Wednesday \u2014 when the motorist lobbed a massive loogie at the rider.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re cycling in New York, you\u2019ve got to assume drivers are going to be angry with you just for existing,\u201d wedding photographer Kara McCurdy said of the encounter. \u201cI was not expecting to be spat on.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCurdy, 27, of Astoria, said she was turning onto the city\u2019s new Crescent Street bike lane at around 4:30 p.m. when she noticed a white BMW headed towards her in the freshly-painted two-way path.<\/p>\n

McCurdy held her position, forcing the driver to stop.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe slammed on the brakes and was visibly frustrated, and yelling at me,\u201d she told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pulled out my phone. I was just going to take a video and send it to my friends. I was like, I\u2019m going to post this on Instagram because this guy is being a jerk.\u201d<\/p>\n

The video shows the BMW in the bike lane, while other vehicles are lined up one-by-one to its right.<\/p>\n

When the light turns green behind McCurdy, the driver veers around her through an opening in the bike lane \u2014 his phone up to his ear \u2014 and hocks his phlegm in her direction.<\/p>\n

McCurdy said the saliva hit her body and bike handlebars.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always disgusting to be spat on, but in the middle of the pandemic it makes it more of a health and safety issue than a disgusting\/disrespect thing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI biked home trying to use the handlebars as little as possible.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
