The question requires a \u201creflexive, emphatic, uncomplicated answer.\u201d So, \u201cyes or no, Joe? There\u2019s no room here for malarkey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Election watch: Don\u2019t Cancel the Debates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scores of commentators have advised canceling the remaining debates, but there is \u201ca reason not to kill off a key feature of modern presidential politics, even if in the wake of Tuesday night, it may seem like a mercy killing,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2020\/09\/30\/dont-cancel-the-debates-423762\">argues Jeff Greenfield at Politico<\/a>. The next presidential square-off, on Oct. 15, is a town hall, a format that \u201chas provided some of the more memorable debate moments: Bill Clinton walking into the audience to ask a woman to describe her concerns; President George H.W. Bush glancing impatiently at his watch; Al Gore striding over to \u2018invade\u2019 \u00adGeorge W. Bush\u2019s space in 2000.\u201d Here, if President Trump and Joe Biden \u201cbegin bickering,\u201d the moderator can remind them \u201cthere are real people waiting to ask their questions.\u201d It just might work: Even the worst \u201cfamily arguments sometimes cease when the neighbors arrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legal analyst: James Comey Is Corrupt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFired FBI Director James Comey needs im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te medical attention,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/james-comey-russia-collusion-gregg-jarrett\">snarks Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett<\/a>. \u201cHe suffers from either acute \u00adamnesia or debilitating dementia.\u201d At a Senate hearing Wednesday on the FBI Russia-collusion probe and the \u201cabuse of the surveillance process\u201d on his watch, Comey \u201cclaimed to know nothing about everything.\u201d He was \u201can empty suit at the helm of one of the most important investigations in American modern history.\u201d He signed spying warrants based on uncorroborated \u00adevidence, swearing under oath that it was \u201ctrue and verified\u201d when it wasn\u2019t \u2014 but he claims he had \u201cno independent knowledge.\u201d The only \u201creasonable\u201d conclusion: \u201cJames Comey is corrupt.\u201d His bout of amnesia is \u201cnothing but a cleverly contrived act to avoid taking responsibility for his malign acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Economist: Unbundling Comes to Journalism<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fired from New York magazine for his heterodox opinions, Andrew Sullivan \u201cturned to Substack, a platform that lets authors publish and monetize a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter or sell stand-alone content directly to readers,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/unbundling-trend-in-media-and-economy\">Allison Schrager observes at City Journal <\/a>\u2014 and he says he is earning more this way. Matt Taibbi similarly left Rolling Stone \u201cto write a paid newsletter, because he wanted more independence,\u201d while chef Alison Roman opted for Substack after coming under fire at The New York Times for supposed insensitivity. It\u2019s all \u201cpart of the growing unbundled economy,\u201d much like cutting the cable to rely on streaming TV services. Large-scale issues remain but might be solved by \u201cbundled newsletters and podcasts.\u201d Watch carefully, as media changes \u201cmay be the canary in the coal mine, telling us what\u2019s in store for the rest of the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong> Teacher: Remote Learning Is a Disaster<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cVirtual learning still presents significant challenges for students, parents and educators,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/09\/30\/most-parents-have-no-idea-how-badly-online-schooling-is-hurting-their-kids\/\">Auguste Meyrat wails at The Federalist<\/a>. Even with motivated students, the \u201cexperience is awkward and incomplete. With unmotivated students, it\u2019s nearly impossible.\u201d Parents face \u201cthe hard choice\u201d of either \u201cbecoming de facto full-time teachers or leaving the children to fend for themselves.\u201d Don\u2019t believe the kids are fine: \u201cAs this school year begins, many teachers are seeing in their students a serious regression both in academic progress and in behavior,\u201d far worse than the usual summer lag.
