Logic dictates that a public figure who flouts <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> distancing guidelines and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears at superspreader events without a face mask would eventually contract a highly contagious, airborne virus. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, many people thought Trump\u2019s COVID-19 diagnosis was predictable\u2014literally. It was just the latest in a chain of major world events that the animated comedy purportedly predicted.\u00a0Social media users also pointed to the show\u2019s 1993 episode \u201cMarge in Chains,\u201d which features an outbreak of the \u201cOsaka Flu,\u201d as evidence that <em>The Simpsons <\/em>predicted the coronavirus pandemic, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-gb\/news\/world\/the-simpsons-didnt-predict-death-of-donald-trump-on-27-august-2020-despite-twitter-claims\/ar-BB18qpnH\">MSN<\/a> reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These claims collapse under scrutiny, however. The doctored image of Trump lying in a coffin that is currently recirculating on Twitter never appeared in an episode of <em>The Simpsons<\/em>. Several videos that propagated the theory also cited previously debunked <em>Simpsons <\/em>predictions, such as the clip of Trump riding down an escalator that aired after he announced his presidency, per <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/simpsons-predict-trump\/\">Snopes<\/a>. \u201cMarge in Chains\u201d episode writer Bill Oakley also shot down the suggestion that he predicted the coronavirus and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/tv\/news\/simpsons-coronavirus-prediction-osaka-flu-tom-hanks-bill-oakley-a9403801.html\">condemned<\/a> the \u201cgross and terrible\u201d jokes that spread.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Simpsons<\/em>-Trump conspiracy theory took another strange turn in July when a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@stfusamantha\/video\/6846464261812735238\">viral TikTok<\/a> from user @stfusamantha implored viewers to \u201cremember the date August 27th \u2013 it\u2019s important.\u201d Somehow, people combined her cryptic TikTok with the doctored <em>Simpsons<\/em> image as proof that Trump would die on Aug. 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This, too, was a baseless prediction (and one that has clearly been disproven, as Aug. 27 has come and gone), and @stfusamantha later <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tellemitswinter\/status\/1280579176848855046\/photo\/2\">admitted<\/a> that she \u201cjust wanted to make a weird video\u201d poking fun at conspiracy theories.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even though rumors of <em>The Simpsons <\/em>predicting Trump\u2019s death have been debunked, social media users continue to circulate the salacious theory for both its shock and comedic value.
