However, she explains that her professor gave her a zero because the \u201cReview+\u201d software built by ProctorU showed her mouthing one of the questions in its video recording. Proctoring software use has grown considerably, as the COVID-19 pandemic pushes schools and universities to transition more quickly to remote\/online learning. In a <em>Vice<\/em> report, it found that \u201cproctoring companies cite\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/connection.ebscohost.com\/c\/articles\/87743105\/comparison-university-efforts-contain-academic-dishonesty\">studies estimating that<\/a>\u00a0between 50 and 70 percent of college students will attempt some form of cheating, and warn that cheating will be rampant if students are left unmonitored in their own homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, some believe the cheating problem is less of an issue than the ever-compounding\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2020\/09\/29\/examsofts-remote-bar-exam-sparks-privacy-and-facial-recognition-concerns\/\">argument<\/a>\u00a0over <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/seanlawson\/2020\/04\/24\/are-schools-forcing-students-to-install-spyware-that-invades-their-privacy-as-a-result-of-the-coronavirus-lockdown\/#6ee90091638d\">privacy<\/a>. So, she said, the dean brought evidence to the class professor. But if you would have just reviewed the evidence and watched the video of me taking the exam, looked at my previous assignments\u2026there\u2019s really nothing else I can do [other than] come in and retake [the exam],\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The professor apologized and reverted her grade to the originally earned B.
