{"id":80614,"date":"2020-10-02T21:10:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T18:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/twitter-to-fix-ai-system-that-cut-black-people-from-photos\/"},"modified":"2020-10-02T21:10:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-02T18:10:49","slug":"twitter-to-fix-ai-system-that-cut-black-people-from-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/twitter-to-fix-ai-system-that-cut-black-people-from-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"#Twitter to fix AI system that cut black people from photos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> to fix AI system that cut black people from photos<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/Twitter-Logo-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        Twitter is making changes to its artificial intelligence system as it investigates why it sometimes cut black people\u2019s faces out of photos.<\/p>\n<p>The social media giant said <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/official\/en_us\/topics\/product\/2020\/transparency-image-cropping.html\">in a blog post<\/a> this week that it was \u201ccommitted to following the \u2018what you see is what you get\u2019 principles of design\u201d after users discovered that the cropped previews of photos that users see when they scroll through their feeds often hones in on white faces when they\u2019re pictured in the same image as black faces.<\/p>\n<p>Programmer Tony Arcieri last week <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bascule\/status\/1307440596668182528\">demonstrated the problem<\/a> with an image that pictured both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and former President Barack Obama. The photo preview only showed McConnell\u2019s face \u2014 even when Arcieri switched the position of their headshots and the color of their ties.<\/p>\n<p>The same thing h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened with another image featuring two cartoon characters from \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d: Lenny, who is white, and Carl, who is black.
