In fact, \u201cTrump didn\u2019t refuse to condemn white supremacists\u201d; he just \u201cdidn\u2019t state that position, which has been repeated many times during his presidency and put into policy, in the sort of normative declarative statement that, in theory, would have ended the discussion.\u201d Part of the problem is that Trump knows his condemnations never satisfy \u201cthose eager to pin the label of \u2018extremist\u2019 on him\u201d and that \u201cimpels him to petulant defiance that is foolish but not racist.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_left_Prezs_COVID_%E2%80%94_a_%E2%80%98Dune_Sequel\"><\/span><strong>From the left: Prez\u2019s COVID \u2014 a \u2018Dune\u2019 Sequel?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>President Trump\u2019s illness is \u201can astonishing development at the end of the most bizarre presidential campaign in modern history,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/articles\/941263\/president-trump-covid19-what-happens-now\">exclaims The Week\u2019s Matthew Walther<\/a>. What h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens next? What will his supporters say if he\u2019s forced to suspend campaign activity? More fundamentally, \u201chow was this allowed to happen\u201d? \u201cA senescent emperor addicted to quack therapies contracts a plague that originated far away in the land of his greatest enemies, amid jeers and cries of joy from half of his subjects, who despise him, and a curious admixture of support and shrugs from the rest, who must decide whether to pray for his life or laugh in the face of danger,\u201d writes Walther. It \u201creads like the plot of one of the later, weirder \u2018Dune\u2019 sequels. But this is America in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Iconoclast_%E2%80%98Anti-Racists_Are_Just_Racists\"><\/span><strong>Iconoclast: \u2018Anti-Racists\u2019 Are Just . . . Racists<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For proof that today\u2019s fashionable \u201canti-racism\u201d is really racist, look no further than at how alt-right guru Richard Spencer and anti-racist scholar Ibram X. Kendi recently found \u201ccommon ground,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spiked-online.com\/2020\/09\/30\/ibram-x-kendi-when-wokes-and-white-supremacists-agree\/\">urges Spiked Online\u2019s Fraser Myers<\/a>. Kendi went on a \u201cbizarre tirade against interracial adoption,\u201d suggesting that the practice amounts to \u201ccolonization,\u201d as he tweeted. \u201cIt turns out that white supremacists share a similar disgust with interracial adoption. \u2018Not wrong,\u2019 concurred Richard Spencer,\u201d who wants to reconstitute Europe as \u201cwhite racial empires.\u201d What unites the two is a view of \u201crace as a defining feature of one\u2019s character, one\u2019s values and one\u2019s place in the world.\u201d The rest of us need to \u201creject racial thinking in all its forms.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legal_beat_A_%E2%80%98Constitutional_Crisis_That_Isnt\"><\/span><strong>Legal beat: A \u2018Constitutional Crisis\u2019 That Isn\u2019t<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When President Trump said he\u2019d nominate a Supreme Court replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joe Biden called it a \u201cconstitutional crisis,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstthings.com\/web-exclusives\/2020\/09\/not-a-constitutional-crisis\">notes attorney John Murdock at First Things<\/a>. Yet there is no \u201cconstitutional crisis.\u201d The Constitution contains no \u201climitation on this process linked to the final year of a presidential term.\u201d Nor does \u201chistory provide a clear norm against this practice.\u201d On the other hand, there may be a \u201ccredibility crisis,\u201d given \u201cthe statements made across the political spectrum\u201d when President Barack Obama tried to name a new justice in the 2016 election year. \u201cThe ubiquity of the hypocrisy \u2014 enveloping as it does everyone from Mitch McConnell to Chuck Schumer to Ruth Bader Ginsburg herself \u2014 either mitigates or magnifies the nature of the phenomenon depending on your perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_right_A_Distorted_View_of_Violence\"><\/span><strong>From the right: A Distorted View of Violence<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cIf Chris Wallace\u2019s goal\u201d at Tuesday\u2019s debate \u201cwas to deflect from the months of left-wing violence from Black Lives Matter extremists and Antifa\u201d and instead blame it on President Trump and his supporters, \u201che did an excellent job,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/01\/dear-chris-wallace-we-were-in-kenosha-and-no-white-supremacists-and-militias-didnt-cause-violence\/\">Evita Duffy and Kylee Zempel snark at The Federalist<\/a>. Wallace suggested white supremacists and militia groups have added to the violence in places like Kenosha, Wis., but violence there was \u201cspurred by left-wing extremist groups, not white supremacists. We know \u2014 because we were there.\u201d Wallace \u201cseemed to be cherry-picking one instance of violence\u201d at the expense of \u201caccurately\u201d depicting the lawlessness. He can pretend \u201cthe right is to blame.\u201d But \u201cwe talked to people on the ground.
