“#Twitter<\/a> will suspend users who ‘wish death’ after Trump gets COVID-19<\/strong>”

\n Twitter says it will suspend users who tweet that they hope for President Trump\u2019s death following his positive coronavirus diagnosis.<\/p>\n

The social media platform told Motherboard<\/a> it could dole out the suspensions under an \u201cabusive behavior\u201d rule that\u2019s been in place since April.<\/p>\n

\u201cContent that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against an individual is against our rules,\u201d Twitter said in a statement to the outlet.<\/p>\n

The anti-abuse policy<\/a> explicitly bans tweets \u201choping that someone dies as a result of a serious disease e.g., \u201cI hope you get cancer and die.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear how often the rule will be enforced, as many have taken to Twitter to send ill wishes to the president since his and first lady Melania\u2019s positive tests were announced early Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Twitter told Motherboard it \u201cwon\u2019t take enforcement action on every Tweet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re prioritizing the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could potentially cause real-world harm,\u201d Twitter added.<\/p>\n

Trump, 74, checked into the Walter Reed military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, Friday evening after he was administered experimental \u201cpolyclonal antibodies.\u201d<\/p>\n

He had been experiencing fatigue, according to his doctor, who has not confirmed reports that he was also suffering from a fever.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank everybody for the tremendous support,\u201d Trump said in a video message before he flew by helicopter to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to Walter Reed hospital,\u201d he added. \u201cI think I\u2019m doing very well, but we\u2019re going to make sure that things work out.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
