\n Emergency teams in Washington State have been harnessing SpaceX\u2019s Starlink internet technology<\/a> to provide connectivity in areas devastated by wildfires.<\/p>\n

\u201cHapp<\/a>y to have the support of @SpaceX\u2019s Starlink internet as emergency responders look to help residents rebuild the town of Malden, WA that was overcome by wildfires earlier this month,\u201d tweeted Washington Emergency Management on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cGlad SpaceX could help! We are prioritizing emergency responders & locations with no Internet connectivity at all,\u201d tweeted SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, in response.<\/p>\n

The satellite-based Starlink system delivers high-speed broadband internet \u201cto locations where access has been unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable,\u201d according to SpaceX.<\/a> The service is initially focused on the northern US and Canada, but will expand to provide near-global coverage of the populated world by 2021, SpaceX says.<\/p>\n

\u201cFour terminals were installed in Bridgeport, Omak, Skamania and Malden,\u201d a spokesperson for the Washington Emergency Management Division told Fox News<\/a>, via email. \u201cAll four performed incredibly well \u2013 and have been recovered. They\u2019re no longer being used at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News has reached out to SpaceX with a request for comment on this story.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
