“#Dubstep DJ Tony \u2018Cookie Monsta\u2019 Cook dead at 31<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Dubstep DJ Cookie Monsta has died, his record label Circus Records announced Friday. Born Tony Cook, the Nottingham, UK-native musician, known for tracks such as \u201cRuff\u201d and \u201cBlurgh,\u201d was 31.<\/p>\n

No cause of death was given in the statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur beloved Tony Cook (aka Cookie Monsta) has left us,\u201d the label wrote in a Twitter post<\/a>. \u201cWe are devastated, no words can contain our feelings on such a day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of our thoughts go to Tony\u2019s family, friends and our heart especially goes out to Tony\u2019s son Olly, the Mini Monsta,\u201d the tweet continued. \u201cThe world will miss you Cookie, we will miss you brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

The label added that it would not comment further \u201cout of respect for Tony\u2019s family.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May 2019, Cookie Monsta informed fans that he was \u201cstruggling with mental health issues,\u201d which prompted him to cancel his tour at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past year I\u2019ve been struggling with mental health issues, over the recent weeks and months this has become harder than ever,\u201d he wrote on Facebook<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve not been online recently as I\u2019ve been trying to work through my problems away from the glare of social media<\/a>. Unfortunately I\u2019ve not made as much progress as I\u2019d hoped, so I\u2019ve decided that I need to take a longer break from the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI will continue making and releasing music, beyond that I look forward to being back out to see you soon when I\u2019m better.\u201d<\/p>\n

A few months later in August last year, he wrote on Instagram<\/a> that he was \u201cin a better place.\u201d In March this year, he shared a photo of himself<\/a> playing a sold-out show at the Hollywood Palladium and teased new remixes in an August post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cookie Monsta has been performing under the moniker since 2008, according to his Spotify bio<\/a>. He released his first mixtape, \u201cMaryland Chocolate Chip Mix,\u201d that year, followed by his first album, \u201cRiot!,\u201d in 2012.<\/p>\n
