\n A Long Island cop was caught on video appearing to deliberately block a protester \u2014 prompting other officers to throw the man to the pavement and arrest him.<\/p>\n

The scuffle in East Meadow on Saturday was caught on a now-viral video.<\/p>\n

The now-viral clip first shows the Nassau County cop walking alongside the protester in East Meadow on Saturday, then moving in front of the man and stopping abruptly.<\/p>\n

The demonstrator, who is marching with a speaker and microphone, bumps into the officer \u2014 prompting other cops to grab him and throw him to the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t touch him! Don\u2019t touch him! He\u2019s not resisting!\u201d another protester yells as more officers form a barricade to prevent interference with the arrest.<\/p>\n

The video shows the officers pinning the man \u2014 identified by TMZ as Terrel Tuosto \u2014 to the ground, but protest organizers claim they were kneeling on his neck.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey kneeled on his neck and had about 6 officers holding him down,\u201d the protest organizers, Justice for George LI, said on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople started yelling and a cop walked into the crowd and pulled a third protester out of the crowd and slammed him onto the crowd,\u201d the group wrote, insisting that \u201ccops outnumbered the marchers easily.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear on the video if the cops are kneeling on the demonstrator\u2019s neck \u2014\u00a0the controversial move used on George Floyd during his fatal arrest in Minneapolis that sparked international protests.<\/p>\n

Tuosto told TMZ he believes he was set up and wants the officers fired.<\/p>\n

New York State Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James also responded to a tweet of the video \u2014 viewed 6.6 million times by Monday morning \u2014 writing, \u201cPlease report this and send visuals to my office.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder defended the arrest, telling PIX 11 in a joint statement that it was \u201cnecessary\u201d to avoid disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n

They said the arrests were over demonstrators moving across lanes of traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis safety precaution was met with strong opposition and resistance which resulted in the arrests of these subjects,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The pair praised officers for \u201cadmirably\u201d living up to their \u201coath to protect and serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNassau County Police Officers are highly trained professionals and for days at over 75 demonstrations, had positively engaged with protesters at all events, even during some tense moments,\u201d their statement added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
