“#Plane accident injures three near Throgs Neck Bridge in Queens<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n At least three people, including a local restauranteur, were injured when a seaplane crashed into a pier nea the Throgs Neck Bridge in Queens on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The single-engine Cessna 182 slammed into the pier at Powell\u2019s Cove Boulevard and 158th Street in Whitestone about 3 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The pilot of the plane was identified as Joe Oppedisano, who lives on the water and typically parks his plane alongside his Riverside Drive mansion, according to relatives and neighbors.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe takes his plane out every day, sometimes twice a day,\u201d neighbor Holly Koffler, 60, told The Post. \u201cHe\u2019s a very good neighbor, a very nice guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Koffler said Oppedisano has even taken locals up in the seaplane.<\/p>\n

Oppedisano, who owns Il Bacco Italian restaurant in Little Neck, has lived on the block for more than 20 years, neighbors said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Twitter<\/a> that three people were taken to area hospitals following the crash \u2014 although the total number of people injured was unclear.<\/p>\n

A woman getting out of a Maserati Ghilbi in tears outside Oppedisano\u2019s home told said he was okay \u2014 but others were no to lucky.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe\u2019s Okay,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s going to be okay. One of the passengers just died and another is in critical condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities were not immediately able to confirm the casualties.<\/p>\n

Sources said several people on Jet Skis jumped in to help rescue the plane\u2019s occupants after the crash.<\/p>\n

Police were seen interviewing several of them after the wreck.<\/p>\n

The plane\u2019s torn-up fuselage remained on the pier after the crash.<\/p>\n

The FAA said the crash is under investigation.<\/p>\n

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified and will launch a probe to determine the cause of the crash.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
