We also have a feeling that it will not be their last.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past four years, Alec Baldwin has come on the late-night sketch show to play Donald Trump with regularity, so it wasn\u2019t a surprise to see him back for the premiere. Yet, there was added attention around the depiction of Jim Carrey as Joe Biden, who in a moment near the end of the cold open, talked about the intersection of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> and karma.\u201d This was a nod to the fact that the President is currently hospitalized after testing positive for the virus. Later in the show,\u00a0<em>SNL\u00a0<\/em>also told jokes about the illness during\u00a0<em>Weekend Update.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Was it too soon for\u00a0<em>SNL\u00a0<\/em>to go there using this sort of humor? This is one of the primary questions that has emerged following the episode. Yet, in a lengthy <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CF7fQdnjVW7\/\">Instagram<\/a> video Baldwin defended the show\u2019s choices, stating the following about the decision to spoof the President\u2019s treatment:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cIf there was ever the suggestion that Trump was truly, gravely ill [at the time we did the episode, or] if people said, \u2018Oh, Trump is really in trouble,\u2019 I bet you everything I have that we wouldn\u2019t even get near that in terms of the content of the show. They would have done something else \u2014 I\u2019ve seen that h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en before \u2026 We only have the words of the White House and the people who work there to go on, and all of them have been saying that he is not in any danger. If their word had been that he is in serious trouble [in the hospital] \u2026 I can assure you we wouldn\u2019t have done it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Baldwin\u2019s position can be summed up as this \u2014 because the White House position was that the President is recovering, that made it okay to tell the jokes. We\u2019re sure that this comment will lead to more arguing, but let\u2019s be honest \u2014 there would always be arguing about it.
