\n Mayor Bill de Blasio took a sick day Monday \u2014 canceling his entire schedule \u2014 but he doesn\u2019t \u201capp<\/a>ear\u201d to have the coronavirus, his press secretary said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe woke up feeling sick so he\u2019s taking the day to work from home,\u201d the mayor\u2019s press secretary Freddi Goldstein told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on his symptoms it doesn\u2019t appear to be COVID-related so no plans for a test right now,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Goldstein said de Blasio was suffering from gastrointestinal symptoms.\u00a0
<\/br><\/span><\/p>\n

The mayor anticipates returning to work Tuesday, Goldstein said.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the first time the mayor has called out sick since COVID-19 began spreading in New York City in March.<\/p>\n

The mayor\u2019s press office canceled his entire schedule at 9:10 a.m. Monday \u2014 just 20 minutes before he was scheduled to give his daily remote media<\/a> briefing from City Hall.<\/p>\n

He had also planned to appear live on CNN with Wolf Blitzer at 5:15 p.m. Later Monday evening he had scheduled a sit down with Errol Louis on NY1.<\/p>\n

De Blasio told reporters several weeks ago he would follow in Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s footsteps and get a coronavirus test, but he never did, according to Goldstein.<\/p>\n

Over last couple of weeks the mayor visited mass demonstrations around the city over the death of George Floyd \u2014 the Minneapolis man who was killed after a cop kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes \u2014 and attended a memorial service to Floyd along with thousands of other New Yorkers in Brooklyn.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
