\n Joe Biden\u2019s campaign greeted the news<\/a> of President Trump\u2019s positive COVID-19 test with a pledge to take down all negative campaign ads as a sign of well wishes for the health of the Trump family. Nice gesture \u2014 if it had followed through.<\/p>\n

Days after the announcement, nearly 100 Biden-sponsored ads attacking Trump were still airing<\/a> in multiple states. Biden himself blasted the president as \u201cdespicable\u201d and railed against his handling of the virus while Trump was at Walter Reed \u2014 just moments after saying he didn\u2019t want to criticize the ailing president.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s campaign press secretary called it \u201cinapp<\/a>ropriate to use the president\u2019s illness to score political points on our opponent.\u201d OK, then . . .<\/p>\n

And when Team Trump asked why the negative ads were still running, the Biden camp said it can take days to pull them. But why promise what you can\u2019t deliver?<\/p>\n

The Democratic candidate himself used his speech in Michigan this weekend to repeat a proven lie that Trump is draining the Social<\/a> Security fund, using the virus\u2019 effect on the elderly as a scare tactic. And he defended one of his ads still airing against Trump\u2019s health-care policies by claiming that it was merely factual.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Trump revealed his positive status, Biden (or whoever actually does his social media) tweeted, \u201cThis cannot be a partisan moment. It must be an American moment. We have to come together as a nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Too bad he didn\u2019t actually mean it.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
