\n A baby boy was killed in his mother\u2019s arms during a carjacking in Texas over the weekend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zayden McLean, who would have turned two years old next month, died when a man tried to steal his mother\u2019s car and ran into both of them before driving away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bailey Bingham, Zayden\u2019s mom, met the boy\u2019s dad, Shea McLean, in the parking lot of the Texas Health Huguley Hospital, reported The Dallas Morning News<\/a>, to exchange custody.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The a<\/span>lleged suspect Nico Lorenzo Dela-Fuente, 30, ambushed the couple and attempted\u00a0to steal the mother\u2019s car.\u00a0Zayden\u2019s father jumped inside the car to try and stop the thief from driving away as the car was in reverse.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fort Worth Police Officer Gezim Pollozani told Fox 4 News<\/a> that Bingham was holding Zayden \u201cin her arms as the vehicle was reversing and it struck the parent and the child, causing both the parent and the child to fall.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect then put the vehicle in drive and ran over the child and crashed into a tree,\u201d Pollozani said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zayden was rushed to Cook Children\u2019s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where he died later from his injuries. His mother, who was also hospitalized, suffered from skull fractures, bleeding on the brain and road rash, but is expected to recover.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a> campaign was created to help with funeral expenses and hospital bills.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who knew Zayden knew how much he was loved by his mother, Bailey Bingham, and father, Shea McLean,\u201d the GoFundMe\u2019s descript<\/a>ion states. \u201cHe was a child of love and spirit. Everyone who knew him loved him, and that love will continue to carry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nVickie Bingham, Zayden\u2019s grandmother, told Fox 4 News<\/a> that the toddler was \u201can angel on Earth, and now he\u2019s an angel in heaven.\u201d\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cIt almost seems like Zayden was born, like he knew he didn\u2019t have much time looking back. It\u2019s almost like he was born knowing that he wasn\u2019t going to have a long life,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s a song, \u2018Live Like You\u2019re Dying.\u2019 And that\u2019s what he did. He loved laughing. He played.\u201d\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWe just want prayers for our daughter and Zayden\u2019s dad,\u201d she added. \u201cThey saw a lot, and they need prayers. They need healing.\u201d\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Delafuente was charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
