Starting with Chrome 86, there\u2019s now <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ghacks.net\/2020\/09\/21\/chrome-86-to-feature-improved-password-reset-capabilities\/\">a quick \u201cChange Password\u201d button<\/a> in Chrome\u2019s password manager that will help you changed those leaked passwords. It will take you directly to the website\u2019s password reset page, taking a lot of legwork out of the process.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is only available for websites that support the \u201cwell-known URL for changing passwords\u201d format, which was introduced by <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le in Safari. Many websites have since adopted the feature.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Background_Tab_Throttling\"><\/span>Background Tab Throttling<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Originally scheduled to be included in Chrome 85, Background Tab Throttling is available in Chrome 86. Tabs that are open in the background get throttled to a maximum of\u00a01% CPU time after they\u2019ve been inactive for five minutes or more.<\/p>\n<p>Tabs are allowed to \u201cwake up\u201d once per minute while in the background. The feature will hopefully improve performance when you have a lot of tabs open at the same time. Google is constantly working to limit CPU usage from open tabs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Warn_Users_of_Insecure_Forms_on_HTTPS_Pages\"><\/span>Warn Users of Insecure Forms on HTTPS Pages<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Secure HTTPS encryption is widely used nowadays, but less secure HTTP content still appears on secure pages across the internet. Chrome 86 will begin warning you when you are <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2020\/08\/protecting-google-chrome-users-from.html\">about to enter information into an insecure site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>What Is HTTPS, and Why Should I Care?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Previously, Chrome displayed a lock icon in your address bar when you were on an HTTPS site. HTTPS sites that used HTTP forms would not display the lock icon, but Google decided this was an unclear way of displaying the warning. Chrome will now display a much more prominent \u201cThis form is not secure\u201d message with red text underneath form fields.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-694232 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Chrome-insecure-forms-warning-1-1-650x118.png.pagespeed.ce.J4-gfokl2v.png\" alt=\"HTTP form warning\" width=\"640\" height=\"116\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>If you do submit a form that isn\u2019t secure, you\u2019ll see a confirmation page warning you that \u201cThe information you\u2019re about to submit is not secure\u201d and encouraging you to go back.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-694233 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/640x307xChrome-insecure-forms-warning-2-1-650x312.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.Afzggh5oMo.png\" alt=\"HTTP form confirm\" width=\"640\" height=\"307\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Improved_Focus_Highlighting\"><\/span>Improved Focus Highlighting<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For people who navigate Chrome with a keyboard or other assistive <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, the focus indicator visually highlights selections while scrolling through the page. The focus indicator makes it clear what you\u2019re selecting. Chrome 86 makes a couple of improvements to this.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone wp-image-694169\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/quick-fox-1.gif.pagespeed.ce.v_0ayWtFPU.gif\" alt=\"focus indicator\" width=\"578\" height=\"278\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>First, a new CSS selector allows developers to opt-in to the same focus indicator method that the browser users. The second is a user setting called \u201cQuick Focus Highlight.\u201d This is a second focus indicator (above) that appears even if the page has disabled focus styles with CSS.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Uniform_Icons_in_Chrome_OS\"><\/span>Uniform Icons in Chrome OS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A small change coming to Chrome OS 86 will make app icons look more uniform. Most people won\u2019t notice this change, but it does make things look more consistent. It\u2019s also in line with Google\u2019s Pixel phones.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Android_Gets_a_New_Overflow_Menu\"><\/span>Android Gets a New Overflow Menu<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Speaking of Android, Chrome for Android is getting a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/2020\/09\/15\/google-chromes-overflow-menu-is-about-to-get-easier-to-navigate\/#ap-lightbox\">new overflow menu<\/a> in Chrome 86. First, all the entries in the many have icons, making it more visual. Second, the menu has been divided into four sections, putting similar options together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-694235\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/306x505xchrome-86-overflow.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.cPCQa6f3U9.png\" alt=\"chrome 86 overflow\" width=\"306\" height=\"505\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the shortcuts at the top of the menu, which are only presented by icons, have a darker grey background, dividing it from the other entries. All of these changes make the menu look a little nicer, and the options are more clear.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Developer_Goodies\"><\/span>Developer Goodies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Like every new release, Chrome 86 includes a bunch of goodies for developers to get their hands on. Many times, this is where the real changes take place. Google outlined many of the features on the Chromium blog and the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/updates\/2020\/08\/devtools\">Web Developers blog<\/a>.
