\n George Floyd\u2019s family on Wednesday hailed the upgraded and additional charges expected over his slaying and expressed gratitude for the \u201cdecisive action\u201d from Minnesota Attorney General<\/a> Keith Ellison.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a bittersweet moment,\u201d family lawyer Ben Crump tweeted about the reported legal action.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply gratified that @AGEllison took decisive action, arresting & charging ALL the officers involved in #GeorgeFloyd\u2019s death & upgrading the charge against Derek Chauvin to felony second-degree murder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chauvin was charged on Friday with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for kneeling on Floyd\u2019s neck for nearly nine minutes following his May 25 arrest.<\/p>\n

Floyd was handcuffed at the time, and cellphone video shows Chauvin ignoring Floyd as he repeatedly said, \u201cI can\u2019t breathe\u201d and bystanders who pleaded with the cop to remove his knee.<\/p>\n

In addition to the upgraded charge against Chauvin, three other cops who were present at the scene \u2014 Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane \u2014 will be charged with aiding and abetting murder, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
