\n Rep. Maxine Waters, who has often tussled with President Trump, said she would endorse Joe Biden, saying it\u2019s a \u201cparticularly dangerous time in America.\u201d She also accused the president of \u201ctalking about killing young white children,\u201d by deploying the military to quell riots.<\/p>\n

The California lawmaker said the US is at a crossroads while it confronts the nationwide protests of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the 40 million Americans unemployed and the ravaging effects of the coronavirus on the economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough right now,\u201d Waters said in an interview Wednesday with Cheddar.com.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only are people upset with the criminal justice system and the fact that this just happ<\/a>ens far too often and to black people in particular, people are out of work right now. One in four people are unemployed,\u201d she said, adding this is a \u201cparticularly dangerous time for America.\u201d<\/p>\n

The troubling environment, she said, makes the case for electing the former vice president.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is going to help people to understand that Biden is a must. They\u2019ve got to change the presidency of the United States. We cannot take four more years of Trump,\u201d Waters said.<\/p>\n

Asked about concerns over Biden\u2019s electability, Waters said she sees \u201ca growing understanding that Biden must be elected,\u201d because Trump is \u201cdestroying America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI see a growing understanding that [Biden] must be elected. He must be elected because this president is destroying America. Not only is he goading confrontation, this business of calling out the military. Now he\u2019s talking about not only killing black people, he\u2019s talking about killing young white children,\u201d the congresswoman said. \u201cI do not believe that whether you\u2019re a Republican, or you are an independent, that you\u2019re going to stand for your white daughter, your white son, to be killed by the military because this president is using it as a campaign tool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Waters said the country needs to make substantive changes to the criminal justice system or the protests will continue, but has no faith in Congress taking up the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have any hopes that anything is going to happen in Congress anytime soon to change it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Trump has nicknamed Waters, one of the first Democrats to call for him to be impeached, \u201cLow IQ Maxine.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
