This time it was the announcement from President Donald Trump that his side will end negotiations on fiscal stimulus. Granted, it wasn\u2019t clear that idea ever had much support in the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate in the first place. The Dow Jones Industrial Average<br \/>\n        DJIA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598065\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-1.33%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       ended 375 points lower on Tuesday, and the Nasdaq Composite<br \/>\n        COMP,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598365\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-1.57%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       dropped to 7% below its record close.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Gregory Daco, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics, said the move could be a watershed moment for the world\u2019s largest economy. Yes, consumer spending held up after the expiration of the $600 weekly federal unemployment benefits at the end of July. The drag to gross domestic product, when coupled with the lack of support to businesses, and state and local governments, will be 1.5%, with the fourth quarter approaching \u201cstall speed,\u201d he says. The team bluntly notes the unemployment during the pandemic has been focused on low-wage industries. At the peak in April, 68% of all employment losses were concentrated in low-wage industries, which accounted for only 43% of pre-COVID payrolls in February. <\/p>\n<p>It also says that the hit from the pandemic to state and local government finances hasn\u2019t been as severe as anticipated. \u201cStates have not shifted into full-on austerity mode for now because they are able to use reserve funds, and they are still deploying federal aid that was provided under CARES 1 [Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act],\u201d the Morgan Stanley team notes.<\/p>\n<p>What does that mean for the market? Julian Emanuel, chief equity and derivatives strategist at BTIG, said Tuesday\u2019s events open up the potential for downside to the S&amp;P 500\u2019s 200-day moving average of 3,113 (which would be a 7% drop). <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile weakness between now and Inauguration Day (1\/20\/21) is likely a buying opportunity \u2014 with low rates, eventual further stimulus and medical progress on the virus supportive elements for 2021 \u2014 we are reminded that in a period of elevated volatility and uncertainty that the long run is made up of a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of short runs which are frequently gut-wrenching,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The buzz<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Trump on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a><br \/>\n        TWTR,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203180645\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-3.61%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       pitched the idea of stand-alone bills for stimulus and aid to airlines and small businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The House Judiciary committee report on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> giants was unveiled, saying Apple<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.86%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Amazon<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-3.10%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Facebook<br \/>\n        FB,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205064656\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.26%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Alphabet<br \/>\n        GOOG,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205453964\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.19%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       unit Google \u201cnot only wield tremendous power, but they also abuse it by charging exorbitant fees, imposing oppressive contract terms, and extracting valuable data from the people and businesses that rely on them.\u201d It recommended \u201cstructural separations and line of business restrictions,\u201d and creating a presumption that any future merger is anticompetitive until proven in the public\u2019s interest.
