\n The special election for ousted Bronx Councilman Andy King\u2019s seat is set for just a few days before Christmas on Dec. 22, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all eligible Bronx residents to vote early, in person, or by absentee ballot in the upcoming special election and get the representation they deserve,\u201d de Blasio said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The Bronx Democrat\u2019s successor will serve through the end of 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis date, within the window allowed by the City Charter, will facilitate maximum voter participation,\u201d de Blasio said.<\/p>\n

King\u2019s colleagues expelled him from the council in a historic vote earlier this week following a series<\/a> of ethics violations.<\/p>\n

He is the first city politician to be booted from the lawmaking body in modern history without first being convicted of a crime.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
