“#Pixar’s latest ‘Soul’ will now premiere on Disney+<\/strong>”

\n One Christmas present won\u2019t be under the tree this year \u2014 it\u2019ll be on the TV.<\/p>\n

Bucking industry trends of pushing major film releases months or years into the future, Disney will instead debut Pixar\u2019s \u201cSoul\u201d on Disney+<\/a> Dec. 25.<\/p>\n

And, unlike \u201cMulan,\u201d \u201cSoul\u201d will not cost an additional $30 to rent as part of its Disney Premiere add-on. It will be available to regular subscribers at no extra charge.<\/p>\n

The wallet-happ<\/a>y move is a major show of confidence in the streaming platform that the studio has dropped huge \u2014 and costly \u2014 projects on, such as Pixar\u2019s \u201cOnward,\u201d \u201cHamilton,\u201d \u201cArtemis Fowl\u201d and Beyonce\u2019s \u201cBlack Is King.\u201d Disney is clearly aware that regular monthly subscribers will be essential while the brick-and-mortar theater business continues to struggle during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cSoul,\u201d which was supposed to be released in theaters in the spring but was pushed to Nov. 20, features the voice of Jamie Foxx as an aspiring jazz musician who, after an accident, finds his soul separated from his body. The cast also includes Tina Fey, Daveed Diggs, Phylicia Rashad, Quest Love and Angela Bassett. It\u2019s directed by Pete Docter, the man who brought us \u201cUp\u201d and \u201cMonsters Inc.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
