That\u2019s where we come in: here are some theater updates involving some Regal theaters deciding to stay open, NATO\u2019s plea for you to #SaveYourCinema, and a tweaked Oscar eligibility rule.<span id=\"more-640514\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Seven_Regal_Theater_Locations_Staying_Open_in_California\"><\/span>Seven Regal Theater Locations Staying Open in California<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Earlier this week, Cineworld \u2013 the parent company of Regal Cinemas \u2013 announced that starting today, they would be temporarily closing all of the Regal movie theater locations in the United States. But now Deadline reports that they\u2019ve had a very slight change of heart: seven locations will remain open, all in California. The Irvine Spectrum, one of the most-trafficked locations of the past several weeks, is keeping its doors open, as are Regal spots in Carlsbad, the Manchester 16, La Habra, Temecula, Riverside Plaza, and Delta Shores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Regal will temporarily suspend theatre operations at close of business today, Thursday, October 8, seven locations in California will remain open at this time,\u201d a spokesperson said today. \u201cThese seven theatres are located in markets throughout the state and had recently opened. Now, they will remain open to offer audiences in those newly-opened markets an opportunity to see\u00a0<em>Tenet<\/em>\u00a0on the big screen along with other current releases.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"NATOs_Latest_Push_to_Save_Theaters\"><\/span>NATO\u2019s Latest Push to Save Theaters<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->While I personally disagree with the National Association of Theatre Owners\u2019 position that movie theaters should be reopened during the pandemic and studios should be releasing new films, I think most folks can agree that the theater industry desperately needs help from the government. In the wake of 93 prominent directors (among them Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg) sending a letter to Congress urging them to provide funding so the industry can survive, NATO is calling on audiences to go to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/saveyourcinema.com\/\">saveyourcinema.com<\/a> and send your own letter to the government\u00a0 to help put the pressure on them to make a decision.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Drive-In_Screenings_Now_Acceptable_for_Oscars_Eligibility\"><\/span>Drive-In Screenings Now Acceptable for Oscars Eligibility<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>And finally, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/race\/oscars-drive-in-screenings-will-now-count-towards-eligibility-exclusive\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> broke the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> that\u00a0the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>s voted today and decided that drive-in screenings will now count towards a film\u2019s qualifications for the 2021 Oscars.
