Yet Harris was \u201cless than honest\u201d: She claimed Lincoln refrained from naming someone 27 days before the 1864 election, saying Americans \u201cdeserve to make the decision about who will be the next president\u201d and that person can pick the next justice. \u201cYet Lincoln said no such thing,\u201d corrects O\u2019Neil. And he only delayed because the Senate was not in session; when it convened on Dec. 5, Lincoln t<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed Salmon P. Chase, and the Senate confirmed him that day. \u201cHarris twisted history\u201d \u2014 to dodge a \u201cmore pertinent question\u201d: whether she and Joe Biden support court-packing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foreign desk: Stopping the Ayatollahs\u2019 Nukes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No matter who wins the election, we\u2019ll soon have to negotiate with Iran, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2020\/oct\/7\/iran-negotiations-are-coming-heres-how-to-do-it-ri\/\">predicts ex-CIA officer Sam Faddis at The Washington Times<\/a>. Fortunately, Team Trump has already shifted matters \u201cin our favor.\u201d Sanctions have sent the rial into free-fall, unemployment \u201cskyrocketing\u201d and inflation \u201cout of control.\u201d Still, the ayatollahs need \u201cto feel military pressure,\u201d too \u2014 and to know we\u2019ll \u201ctake whatever steps necessary\u201d to keep them from getting nukes. So let\u2019s end talk of \u201cwithdrawing from Iraq.\u201d Update plans to strike Iranian nuclear facilities. Conduct exercises with regional partners. Review missile defenses. Joe Biden would return to the \u201cnullity\u201d of the past deal, an \u201cincalculable\u201d disaster. Yet if we set the proper preconditions, we\u2019ll be able to deal with Iran \u201cfrom a position of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2020 watch: Pence\u2019s Debate \u2018Clinic\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Wednesday\u2019s debate, Mike Pence gave \u201ca clinic\u201d on \u201chow to rope-a-dope your opponent,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2020\/10\/08\/mike-pences-debate-master-class\/?wpisrc=op_mt&amp;mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTmpZd05qTXhOV00zTWpFeiIsInQiOiJSVWhwaDFBejFQWmJIMG16MEhXcEZud1FDKzBwNWVKeTBIRnVMQzF4Y0p1aDQ3eUJQb3FxeHhtM0ljNzNJVHlCTmVOQnI0R2hZWXEzbHBDODV5MjlKQmZMVzNPTlhPVEJPWlZtejl1c21jK1pUVEdXcVFtd3BTK3dDR1NJd3RIQSJ9\">Marc Thiessen writes at The Washington Post<\/a>, anticipating Kamala Harris\u2019 \u201cevery line of attack.\u201d When she blasted President Trump\u2019s handling of the pandemic but failed to name anything Joe Biden might have done differently, Pence snarked that the Biden-Harris plan \u201clooks a little like plagiarism, which is something Joe Biden knows a little bit about.\u201d When Harris attacked Trump\u2019s foreign policy, Pence pointed out that the Obama-Biden team\u2019s hesitation cost the military an opportunity to save Kayla Mueller, an ISIS hostage. \u201cFor the record,\u201d Pence also noted, Harris never answered the question on court-packing. \u201cTrump should study Pence\u2019s performance\u201d \u2014 and \u201cemulate\u201d it in any future faceoffs with Biden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture critic: Fight Against \u2018Literary Apartheid\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though the 2018 film \u201c\u2009\u2018Love, Simon\u2019 tenderly and accurately portrayed many aspects common to the gay teenage experience,\u201d some have criticized Becky Albertalli, author of the novel it was based on, for writing about gays even though she\u2019s straight, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tabletmag.com\/sections\/arts-letters\/articles\/love-simon-teenage-romantic-comedy\">sighs James Kirchick for Tablet<\/a>. Indeed, Albertalli was even pressured to come out as bisexual in an essay that \u201creads like a hostage note.\u201d It seems that since the LGBTQ+ community has \u201cachieved a cultural influence once thought impossible, much of what passes for gay activism today is driven by an impulse which is the very opposite of freedom: control.\u201d Kirchick urges marginalized groups to encourage authors to create characters of \u201cevery imaginable permutation of human identity,\u201d because \u201cto insist otherwise would usher in nothing less than a system of literary apartheid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iconoclast: <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>\u2019s QAnon Overreach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Facebook has taken its censorship to the next level by vowing to remove posts linked to the conspiracy-theory group QAnon \u201ceven if they contain no violent content,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/taibbi.substack.com\/p\/after-the-qanon-ban-whos-next\">reports Matt Taibbi<\/a>.
